If Bannon knew he was being investigated – and it is explicity alleged that he learned about it last fall and took steps to cover up the criming as a result – there is no way attempts to avoid the charges were not made known to Barr. He would have gotten that news via Trumpworld, not SDNY.

President Trump has always felt the Wall must be a government project and that it is far too big and complex to be handled privately.
That would be precious coming from a modern-day Republican, but that’s over his head. This is just Trump saying, “that’s my grift, go dig somewhere else.”
