DeSantis Wants To Water Down Book Ban Now That He’s No Longer Running For President

Especially since your tax dollars are paying for the education kids are supposed to be getting, and also for the legal fees those bans incur.

The accompanying photo of DeSantis tells you everything you need to know about him. He wears his “self-righteous asshole bona fides” like a cloak.

book challengers without children in a school district to pay a $100 “processing fee” per book challenge after they’ve already filed five challenges that were denied by the district.

That’s how Ron runs the government. It was the fault of the people he “leads”. So here now, he orders, follow these instructions this month. As for how to keep track of five challenges…?

Sorry. Ron’s budget has no more money. Just more work. Speaking of staff sizes…

Guv Numbnuts Sweatervest of Virginia tried that for a year before quietly shutting it down.

Though I’m glad that Ron is trying to clean up the mess he made, my only quibble with what he pronounced is that if you’re a property owner in FL and part of your property taxes go to fund your local school dist. then you have every right to chime in on what that school district is doing with your money.
The better way to weed out the kooks is to make the the person wanting a book banned to write an essay on why it needs to be banned, and not just hand in a list that someone else gave you.
Oh and there should be a small test to determine if you really did read the book, and not just the book review.

And the test should include an “I am not a robot” question  ; - )

Oh that test must be taken in the presence of the librarian, or designated staff member, during school hours. None of this online thing.

Perhaps he can send his faithful and oh so smart Frau Pushaw into the legislature. Then they might do whatever he wants to make her go away.

He won’t have to bend to kiss Trump’s a$$.

Remember the Holy Bible must also banned along with all those nasty books.

He’ll keep those cute white boots, though.

School districts around the country are shifting from the FA zone to the FO zone right about now.

Like the “Life of Rosa Parks?” Oh Duval County FL says that book wasn’t banned. They just didn’t purchase it because it is political, racist and might hurt the fee fees of good little white boys and girls

or, maybe just scrap the whole book banning thing altogether? seems easier.

Interesting.

I read somewhere recently about an 18 year old kid who was a school board candidate** in some small town.

He was approached by a parent who handed him a list of books she wanted to ban. The kid took a long look at the list, then asked the parent if she had read any of these books. Not the surprisingly, she said No.

The kid gave her the list back and told her to read the books and get back to him after she had done so.

Great approach! Not arguing with her, just pointing out the hypocrisy of her asking to consider banning she herself had not read. I liked it!

**And now, of course, i can’t find the article, dammit. :unamused:

Doesn’t the orange man wear lifts?

That happened in Utah last June. The ban stood for three weeks, then was overturned.

It’s one thing to foment chaos and misrule for a good purpose, like getting me, Ron, into the White House, but if that purpose is (sadly) moot, then obviously the chaos has to stop! I mean, come on, people! You’re doing damage here!
