Europe left a long while ago. I’m inclined to think their views don’t count that much. A lot of European govt’s are doing CYA with their own press and public and America is easy to blame. The UK talked a good game about taking on a number of AFG refugees but FM Dominic Raab didn’t engage anyone and people are calling for him to be sacked in classic British style. Throwing Biden under the bus is how the Johnson gov’t has been fending off criticism.
The retired generals are part of War Inc. They couldn’t show us a path to victory or stability. As Josh has said, the fact that the AFG gov’t collapsed on first contact w/reality underscores the validity of Biden’s assessment. Out in the country, a clear majority believe we should be out of AFG and have felt that way for a few years now. There’s a political tempest based on outright slanderous media coverage, but Biden fought through that and got this job done. People will be glad that we’re out even if some proclaim that they didn’t like seeing how the sausage was being made.
