DeSantis Attacks Tampa Bay Rays’ Gun Reform Effort With Veto

Tampa should move the franchise. Plenty of other states more hospitable.

Summer sport indoors. Stadium is in St. Pete and it is ugly and hard to get to from Tampa. Once the snowbirds go home what’s left is seniors who have roots elsewhere.

We must honor (by doing) the efforts made by others in the past. History will remember this era.

Who would love to brag about bringing a professional sports leech franchise to the state, and pay for it with the tax money collected from those who cannot afford to go to the games

Speaking of tax sucking assholes…

Send Elon to the Moon- Give a free trip to his buddy Trump. They both can have MAGA land on the moon.

Every time this spokesbot releases a statement, I mentally call her awful names. She has never made any statement (that I’ve seen) where she hasn’t been utterly revolting. Maybe even deplorable.

This is right out of the Trump playbook. DeSantis is simultaneously playing to his base, while doing so at the expense of someone who dared to oppose him. Also in Trump fashion, is using grievance as a substitute for policy in deflecting from his many failures as governor in dealing with economic and environmental issues that threaten his state.

If Trump has a stroke or stumbles politically before the next election, De Santis is positioning for his presidential run with the MAGA right.

I hope he keeps this shit up. Until you have enough pieces of a puzzle in place it’s not possible to see what the image is. DeSantis has been putting piece after piece of himself in place in a way that’s clarifying the picture of who he is. It won’t be long before it’s obvious he’s an unchecked authoritarian on no one’s side but his own. Florida will still reelect that but he can kiss national office good bye.

Might be a problem with that.

If the Nats declare rights…

The Portland (Oregon) Rain Showers maybe? (they want an MLB team)

I’ll be pretty surprised if he gets through the rest of his term without approving taxpayer funding for an openly right wing private organization, and I’d say that his and his spokespuke’s explicit comments will draw a lawsuit.

Yes, so do I.

This is something I love about Biden. A down to earth, tell it like it is, fundamentally decent human response to the insufferable prick that is Elon Musk.

WHY would anybody want to do business in Florida with these authoritarian thugs running the show?

On the whole, I’d rather be in Philadelphia.

Ehhh, she forget to shoehorn in “paedophiles,” so 6/10.

Lame.

Only in the sense that Biden defeats him. It’s early days yet, but my money is on DeSantis to grab the GQP nomination: unlike other contenders, he’s walking the walk, and demonstrating what a DeSantis administration would look like. That is, he won’t just have a bunch of promises, but actual receipts showing how he kept those promises in Florida.

Also, the GQP (and more than a few Democratic defeatists) yearns for an unchecked authoritarian. They don’t care that he doesn’t really care about them, because he’s going to destroy everything that makes them angry or anxious.

He’s promising unchecked vengeance and endless cruelty towards every everyone and everything that ever made you feel small or less than: sounds like a winner to me!
