Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is taking another page out of Donald Trump’s playbook for his burgeoning presidential campaign: harnessing his own media echo-chamber.
“He makes news almost every day or every other day—and everyone knows that,” he told Grid. “We write fairly about him. We try to not make it about pushing his agenda.”
“and I think that there are a lot of corporate media outlets in this country that are just dedicated to pursuing partisan narratives and trying to smear people who dissent from those narratives.”
It’s easy to be a fascist asshole while running for the American Fascist Party’s nomination.
That pivot to running and attracting enough voters to win a general presidential election is going to look awful embarrassing when he gets all this shit thrown back in his face.
He’ll have to face the national media at some point if he gets that far. But remember, he’s the man that took on The Mouse and pretty much got steamrolled.
Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, etc., aside, not to mention NATO, the UN, and of course Ukraine, this might not go over so well with Bibi & Co., whom these redneck yahoo Xtian nationalists get along with so well.
“It would not be impossible to prove with sufficient repetition and a psychological understanding of the people concerned that a square is in fact a circle. They are mere words, and words can be molded until they clothe ideas and disguise.” ― Joseph Goebbels
The newly appointed members of the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District include Bridget Ziegler, a vocal proponent of DeSantis’s education policies, including the Parental Rights in Education bill dubbed by critics as the “don’t say gay” law that Disney leaders opposed last year. Also named to the board: Ron Peri, who heads the Gathering USA, a Christian ministry, and three attorneys, including the president of the Federalist Society’s Orlando chapter.
This is surely going to work out very well, very well indeed. #AllTheBestPeople
My view is Disney should falsely announce it will be closing the park permanently in 2025 because it can’t operate profitably under the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. I mean, how hysterical would it be to watch the furious backpedalling of DeSatan and his Christo-fascist henchmen? Disney would probably — miraculously! — qualify for a massive tax break.
OT but not really, a Florida Legislator has proposed a law that will require any blogger who writes about the Governor, AG or cabinet officer, and get s paid to do so, has to register with the state within 5 days of publication.
