I remain surprised that Johnson doesn’t just put forth a bill that states “$XYZ billion: President’s Discretion”. Because he knows his Con Man Chief will do that anyway. The whole kabuki of “appropriations” is meaningless under that guy.

What is the threat of a shutdown at this point? They’re already shutting it down. Once you say laws are for suckers and grab the entire federal budget to do with as you wish and pee in the faces of your own congressional majority, what’s left? Dems need to step away and let the GOP hang themselves with their own ropes. They can’t blame Democrats if they still pass the “budget” without Dem votes. It’s ALLLLLL on them. And Dems need to drive that point home, loudly, every day. They need to go to red districts and have listening sessions. As my governor says:
