With the Affordable Care Act front and center in the news thanks to the Supreme Court’s looming decision on its legality, Democrats are launching a new campaign to boost its image. This video, from the DNC, notes that Republicans who call for its repeal would also undo its provisions requiring insurance companies to offer similar rates to men and women. Women currently pay higher premiums on average and many pregnant women have had a difficult time finding new coverage as insurers consider their state a “pre-existing condition.” The ACA, when it comes into full effect in 2014, will prohibit this type of treament by insurers.
