Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) has been making the rounds in his opposition to the billionaire tax currently being negotiated by Democrats as a potential major revenue stream.
He called it “a really bad idea if you’re encouraging entrepreneurship and job creation” to reporters Tuesday.
Those hedge fund managers are very entrepreneurial and create lots of jobs for people who clean yachts, I mean houseboats, etc.

What is Manchin’s game with climate? If I could talk to him I would ask Manchin what he thinks the price of carbon should be.
If he says a number, I would ask how he came to that. The US lacks an efficient carbon pricing mechanism.
If he lets the market set the carbon price, I would ask if that includes carbon embodied in imports to prevent carbon leakage (the moving of production to dirtier countries).
If he allows for carbon adjustment, I would as how long he expects the need for such arrangements to continue until we decarbonize.

The first Gilded Age was eventually muted…This one has a lot more sophistication. For example, recently, people actually expressed good-natured interest in a few of these jokers going “into space”.
Most people cannot picture the actual gap between the ultra-rich and others. Race is the only American issue that consistently dissolves interest in this actual gap.

If Mitt Romney has a problem with the Democrats tax plan then he either has to join the discussion and be prepared to vote for any compromise or shut up. That is Republicans have said they will not vote for anything and therefore have no voice. If they want a voice, then they need to change their strategy of just say no.
Also, I agree with Manchin on Medicare expansion to “Red” States or really states that refuse to accept Obamacare. I mean why should responsible states pay for Republican “just say no” opposition to Democrat policies result in Democrat controlled states and the federal government paying more.
But my biggest problem with this is how Manchin and Sinema, the two least Democrats are killing anything of worth in the bill. I mean if you cannot include a provision to eliminate the Republican give away to big pharmacy in the original Bush proscription drug law nor can you reverse Trump’s tax shift from the upper middle class to the supper rich nor can you do anything about climate change or providing aid to families, what is the real point of any of this.
Sometimes you just have to walk away. I mean Sinema and Manchin want the other bill that gives money to big business that will somewhat trickle down on the rest of us, then they have to agree to giving something to the rest of us directly that will trickle up or get nothing. That is how negotiation works.
