The objections about investment certainty needing ten year commitments are ridiculous. Every long term project is subject to termination or reduction by Congress at any time. Just ask the crews of Apollo 18 and 19, the scientists not making new discoveries in the Superconducting Supercollider and the F-22 assembly line workers.

I do not believe cutting back on anything including duration solves anything because the players have not shown their hands.
That is neither Manchin or Senima have said what they do or do not agree with including the number of years. That is they could say the money they agree to spend must be for programs that last 10 years.
Until the dissenting Dems give specifics of what they will and will not accept, other Dems are negotiating with themselves.

Instead of useless rocket rides, Bezos should write out a check and buy NKLA.(market cap of less than 5 billion) Then develop their hydrogen truck stop fueling network with another billion and use a few more billion to figure out green/blue hydrogen production in an affordable way. And also throw some money at their hydrogen truck plans.
They have some good ideas, but are really short of capital. Without any help, I suspect they could go bankrupt. ( I don’t own any NKLA stock)
He could eventually help wipe out most of Tesla’s market cap if he brings about the hydrogen revolution sooner than later.
And the planet would benefit.

To be fair, other than broad outlines of a handful of things, haven’t seen any published list of what’s all in the $3.5 trillion proposal to begin with.
If they really want to go to town, publish that list, with line item cost, then it’s on Manchin and Sinema to say which things they want to cut.

Never seen a movie hover so precipitously on the brink separating “not a terrible horror movie” and the abyss of “oh, fuck this is terrible” for so long before the inevitable slip off the ledge.

It’s true. It’s politically hard to take something away once you give it to people. If they manage to keep the dental coverage in Medicare proposal people should go get their teeth fixed asap. And that’s assuming there’s enough of a benefit to even do that (dental coverage is notoriously bad).

Maybe then she could have an opportunity to reflect on her mistakes in life and realize she only has one chance to not screw everything up.
