DeJoy’s Potential USPS Changes Post-Elections Include Hikes In Service Rates

And It certainly shouldn’t have to fund its pension that far out.

Repealing that law should be the first order of business.

As a random note: California’s governor just signed an executive order(?) saying all mail-in ballots postmarked by election day will be counted until November 20 regardless of when they arrive.

There was a comparison in one of the other articles – many countries are at or over $1. If we want a lower number to help bind the country together, we should be willing to pay for it out of taxes.

Rate increase are to be expected. It is an SOP move from many execs, less service, smaller quantity placed in to box of cereal along with a price increase. Once the 1st is accepted, expect a 2nd within 6 months. A goal will be to price the PO out of business, also a standard procedure.

What about people who don’t have internet and pay their bills by mail? It’s taking more money from whatever they have to live on. It may not seem like a lot to us, but it is to anyone living on a fixed income, especially in rural areas.

No matter what DeJoy says we the people are the ones who are feeling the delays, and no matter how these GOP senators try to spin this,as I type their phones are still ringing off the hook with complaints.

What’s is going to cost to reinstall sorting machines? Did any need replacing/improving?
DeJoy should help pay for that.

Will not work, there are a couple of parking lots near here that are just overflowing with blue/gray Prime trucks all ready to start making home deliveries. These trucks are the exact same configuration as FedEx and UPS and I am aware that Prime last winter was looking for experienced drivers. Have not heard anything in a few months so don’t know exactly when Prime home deliveries will start but you can bet that Amazon is ready.

When the GOP says down with big government, they intend to leave no stone unturned. Of course that doesn’t apply to using federal law enforcement to “quell” riots or clear the way for the President to hold a bible in public or, apparently, to stand threateningly at polling places. Or to stop abortions. Or to any Samn thing they want to control.
Trump wants the post office to be approached like his bankrupted businesses - wring everything you can out of it, leave others to clear up the mess, and as a major selling point, benefit your friends who compete with its services.
The postal service is intended to be a public service binding our nation. No wonder Trump doesn’t get it.

The government pension corporation and usually at about 70 cents to a dollar earned. However, at last report the program was short of funding and at the time was requesting and being told no, believe it was the Senate once again, that Congress makes more available.

I know!!! That’s what’s so crazy! We’re already getting deliveries from those brand new vans. This hasn’t hurt Amazon at all, but it’s further taken money from the post office. It looks to me that this is really all about mail- in voting after all.

Moscow Mitch held up appointments to the board last administration. That has resulted in a board largely appointed by The Turnip. Folks are foolish to think they will not march in REPUG lockstep.

I’m preparing to be burned at the stake, but couldn’t we build one less bomber and support the Post Office?

The greedy grifters in the White House and their cronies. They’re probably already divvying up the spoils.

DeJoy is now saying repeatedly to Rick Scott (Florida Man) that “We have to cover our costs. We are a business.” Fuck him.

Get back to the Constitution and who is supposed to control a Postal Service.

OK, here’s the legislation on the Postal Service. The Congress can change/modify these laws:

There’s a lot of stuff in the CFR (Code of Federal Regulations), but it’s the USCode that is the laws passed by Congress. Go there, make changes as necessary, and fix this crap.

I have no idea how the numbers work. Does anyone know how USPS operating budget would be affected by changing that 75-year pension funding mandate to say, 50 years? 20 years?

Last time I looked the hit was somewhere between $2 and 5 billion a year. Enough to make a substantial difference.
