DeJoy’s Cost-Cutting Moves Heaped Problems Upon More Problems At USPS, IG Says | Talking Points Memo

Guantanamo is nice and warm.

Don’t we have an airbase somewhere in northern Greenland we can send them?
Let them study receding glaciers up close.

"A report on the investigation found that a slew of changes spearheaded and accelerated after DeJoy became Postmaster General over the summer were harmful in their own right — but also, that poor documentation, guidance and analysis of the changes “compounded” the problem. "

Time to dust off W’s old “Mission Accomplished” banner. My hope would be that the professionals remaining at USPS can jury rig the system to do the job. Those are some good people being put into a horrible bind by corrupt leadership.

DeJoy’s marching orders where to drive the USPS into a bridge abutment at high speed … do it & successfully jump clear and Trump would reward him with the rights to operating some next generation of a postal service …

This is the Vlad Putin business model for dispositioning national assets for fun & profit & to have billionaires indebted to you… it is also criminal … getting more and more receptive to a trial & execution of Trump

Amen lastroth, 50k customers versus, oh, three hundred million customers, yeah that’ll cross pollinate.

Fucking CEO’s indeed.

You know the only CEO who I’ve heard of, and read about being able to take his experience and scale up biggly and quickly is Jose Andres of World Central Kitchen. DeJoy ain’t in the same league and Chef Andres.

The sonofabitch should be prosecuted. There are grounds to bring his vandal-ass before a jury. The heavy hand of the law should squash this cockroach for his campaign finance violations and deliberate sabotage of mail service, intended to screw up mail-in ballots.

I hear Siberia is pretty nice this time of year. I sure Vlad wouldn’t mind hosting them… they were merely useful idiots, after all.

During this past year we’ve gotten mail on Sundays, at 9 pm at night, sometimes one flyer, sometimes a sheaf of junk.
We used to know our mailwoman, and she knew us. We got our mail on time every day. I’m glad she retired before this loon took over.

Like that matters to them.

Peters Investigative Update Shows Persistent Delays of On-Time Mail Delivery, Including Increasing Delays in Detroit and Across Michigan

Peters Continues Leading Effort to Restore Mail Service and Demand Answers from the Postmaster General on Delays

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Gary Peters (MI), Ranking Member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, released an investigative update with new U.S. Postal Service (USPS) data showing wide-spread fluctuations in on-time mail delivery, including recent and severe delays in the Detroit area. Peters’ update shows that while on-time mail delivery has improved nationwide due to congressional pressure and court orders, delivery performance remains below levels prior to Postmaster General DeJoy’s July 2020 changes. Peters also released an investigative update earlier this month showing on-time delivery remains a concern despite improvements following congressional oversight.

“Michiganders are counting on the Postal Service to deliver their mail on time, and this decline in service across the state is completely unacceptable,” said Senator Peters. “The Postmaster General must immediately comply with all court orders and confirm he has reversed damaging changes that caused severe disruptions to mail service. At a time when communities in Michigan and across the country are counting on the Postal Service more than ever to deliver their prescription drugs, business mail and even absentee ballots, these persistent and increasing delays only continue to hurt the people who rely on the mail to stay connected.”

READ PETERS’ INVESTIGATIVE UPDATE

“The update shows that on-time First-Class Mail performance was below 80% in six Districts across the country, including in parts of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia), Maryland (Baltimore), Mississippi, Alabama, the District of Columbia, and Michigan (Detroit). The update also shows that across Michigan, on-time delivery rates have declined dramatically in recent weeks. During the week of October 3 – 9, only 70.9% of First-Class Mail was delivered on time in the Detroit District – the worst performance of any District in the country for the most recent time period for which data is available.”

See a pattern?

Again a fucking “business man” with no fucking clue how to run an operation as large as the USPS.

The fundamental problem is that it isn’t, nor is intended to be, a business. It’s no more a business than the Weather Service or Cooperative Extension. It is a service meant to support citizens and businesses. Does anyone complain when other government agencies aren’t turning a profit? Do we gripe when the army doesn’t cover its cost or the fire department doesn’t charge to put out fires?

In some circles, the ones he cares about, killing the USPS makes you a hero. I can only hope there’s a criminal charge in there somewhere.

Thule Air Base, or Thule Air Base/Pituffik Airport, is the United States Air Force’s northernmost base, located 1,207 km north of the Arctic Circle and 1,524 km from the North Pole on the northwest coast of the island of Greenland.

I hear it’s lovely this time of year. At the moment, it’s 14º, but it could get up to 15º later in the day. It’s expensive to heat domiciles there, so our cost cutting friends should have no problem with saving a few dollars by turning down the thermostat. Bedding and clothing will, of course, be provided by the lowest bidder, so a plywood plank for a bed and one mylar blanket will be adequate. Actually, who needs a sheet of plywood? The floor is fine for asylum seekers. Santa may pop over at Christmas to deliver one lowest cost protein bar per guest. (Guests must express their effusive gratitude or all such treats will be eliminated.)
