Defense Official Involved In Ukraine Mess To Resign | Talking Points Memo

The only good news about these things is that when a new DEM Pres. shows up, we’ll automatically know who ALL the bootlicks, Oath-breakers, white-collar criminals, abetters, corrupters and sycophants are. (They are the ones sitting in the chairs in the Exec. Branch.) Tattoo their foreheads with a purple T, fire them, and move on.

witness 2: " I did too, I was over by the ficus plant and I saw his face."

Police captain: " Officer, arrest these 2."

" We will run away on the beaches, we will run away on the landing fields. If the enemy invades, we will bow down before him to the last man. All I have to offer you is the blood of the disenfranchised, the sweat of the field worker and the tears of caged children."

After tRump’s dismantled the most of the workings of the judiciary he’ll be more able to dismantle the military and replace it with his own private militia. You think I’m kidding? Nothing about what’s happening to our country is funny anymore. It could happen. That’s all I’m saying.

(Btw, was thinking that tonight I hope someone asks fucking Bloomers what kind of Supreme Court justices he would nominate. RBG is sure to retire in the near future. I can see him boasting of picking one that is in favor of Roe v. Wade to appeal to progressives, but you can bet your bottom dollar the kind of justice he would pick would be another corporatist-loving, Citizens United and a protector of Wall Street muckety-muck over worker and labor rights protections as a champion for individual rights on economic matters. And also one that is not so big on reforming election financing, for which I say phewy.)

He should be summoned to testify to the House Armed Services Committee immediately.

Today.

We always knew why Putin feared Hillary. Watching Putin play Fantasy American President every day gets tiresome.

WTF? I may have to swear off TPM for the rest of the day. This is depressing.

That headline is absolutely terrible - how in the world was this guy “involved in the Ukraine mess”? He was just an innocent bystander trying to do his job. The purge is aimed at people who tried to stop the plot from going forward OR told the truth during the impeachment hearings. Those are the people getting purged.

Why do I think the whistleblower is going to get arrested for something in the near future? When will we know that the autocracy is firmly in place? Talking heads and lawyers will be debating legality of the ruler’s actions even as his actions cement the final pieces of the autocracy in place.

We make the mistake of thinking we are still free because, as far as we know, people aren’t being taken out and shot when they disagree with Trump. So is it autocracy lite? what the fuck is happening to our country right now? It’s all OK as long as my 401k is healthy?

The banality of evil is upon us - and the enabling liars are all lying and spinning as fast as they can. We have been warned time and again by Republicans that the GOP no longer cares much for small “d” democracy, and in fact considers it a hindrance to their ability to establish their complete hegemony. Will there be anyone left to cry “wolf” when the wolf has eaten the last person with a voice?

Are we waiting for the billionaires to save us?

Rasmussen is a bad poll that is biased greviously.

No. As @rockitttla wrote, they must be held accountable. If we haven’t yet learned the disastrous results of a “look forward, not backwards” policy, it will only happen again, and exponentially worse. Again.

I see we are still in the twilight zone where down is up.

“A top Defense Department official who internally raised concerns about freezing military aid to Ukraine has been asked by his national security superiors to resign and is stepping down.”

Yes, he is being punished for doing the right thing and doing it by the book - internally.
