30 people to surveil how many millions of social media users? Oh well I guess that’s why we need AI. This will be a snap, right?

Here’s a small piece of good news. We dodged at least a smallish bullet here. Hegseth’s horrifying pastor. Doug Wilson – who’s busily engaged in trying to launch himself off of Hegseth/Trump to carry his ultra-bigoted Christian nationalism brand to national status – just tried to buy the major publication Christianity Today …and was turned down. Of course, he’ll try again, but I sure hope people keep refusing to give him pre-established respected media outlets/mouthpieces that he can then warp into his holy horror and snare more people by stealth:

From The Roys Report piece: ’ Christianity Today (CT) magazine has rejected a $10 million buy-out offer from Canon Press, a publishing company founded by prominent Christian nationalist pastor Doug Wilson. News of the offer was posted online Sept. 29 by Daily Wire reporter Megan Basham, who claimed that many Christians lament that CT “has been captured by worldly ideology.” Basham suggested Canon Press would restore the magazine to the “intended purpose” of its founder, the Rev. Billy Graham.

‘Basham also posted an offer letter by Canon, stating that recently assassinated conservative activist Charlies Kirk “carried the torch” of Billy Graham, who died in 2018 at the age of 99. The letter claimed Canon could grow CT to “reach a larger audience and increase its impact, all while preserving that legacy.”’

>”Patel this week ended a training and intelligence-sharing partnership with the Anti-Defamation League.”

Well, how’s the Department Formerly Called “Justice” supposed to fight “anti-semitism” without the ADL? It’s almost like the whole anti-semitism schtick was just some kind of … ah, svindi. (per google)

Kash Patel fired a new agent trainee at Quantico for having displayed a gay pride flag on his desk last year during a previous assignment as a FBI support staffer — before Trump became president. Patel called it “an inappropriate display of political signage in your work area,”

First there was the firing of Immigration judges - in a couple of waves. They were already backlogged. 80 the first time, then 20 more.

And nothing f’ing formats this morning.

…immigration judges
And then they do this

Lawyers with ZERO experience.

Training for the first group of Army lawyers begins Monday and training for the second group is expected to start in the spring, several former and current military reserve lawyers said they were told. Roughly 100 Army Reserve lawyers are expected to participate, with 50 beginning a nearly six-month assignment immediately after their training, according to a Sept. 3 email sent to an Army Reserve attorney and reviewed by The Associated Press.

The administration wants to bring in as many as 600 military-trained attorneys to help make decisions about which immigrants can stay in the country.

So, why wouldn’t you just keep what you had and add more to clear the backlog? Because you don’t want anyone who actually knows the law.

From the Washington Post: “Weiss, whose background is in opinion journalism and commentary, has no experience working at a broadcast television network.“

How is this a meritocratic hire? I get that people have different skill sets and can adapt. This an akin to Edward R. Murrow being forced to hire someone from the John Birch Society to do commentary after his infamous take down of Joe McCarthy.

What will 60 minutes be like now? Mike Wallace, Morley Safar and the others made their mark doing serious investigative journalism. Will Weiss and the new management now have them doing stories defending unscrupulous defense contractors and used car dealers who roll back odometers? Will they still investigate wrongful convictions like this infamous one? Or will they now focus their attention on the aggrieved conservative snowflakes on campus?

Re: Judge Eileen Cannon

Reform and dramatic expansion of the whole Judicial Branch will be a necessary first step. Of course dealing with the corrupt “Supreme” Court. But also increasing the size of the rest of the Judiciary to handle the expanded caseload of prosecuting all these Trump officials and syncophants who happily broke or twisted the laws on his behalf.

From the MM: Patel called it “an inappropriate display of political signage in your work area,”

Wonder what Patel calls the speech-full-of-political-signage-and-nothing-but-political-signage that his big orange cankled boss man poured out this week on the very inappropriate swore-an-oath-to-stay-strictly-away-from-politics audience of top U.S. military brass?

No politics in the government service, indeed. you Regime of Supreme Hypocrites.
