Not only does Cruz’s citation of the compromise of 1877 let his racist underwear show. It fails on its own merits. There are “disputes” about electoral votes now only on the other side of the looking glass, in alternative facts land, where Trump is, has been, and always will be, the Red Queen.

I remember Josh Marshall writing about being at Harvard the same time as Cruz. Either Josh’s wife or a friend was in Cruz’s Harvard Law class, where the kid most likely to be punched in the face refused to let anyone who attended non-Ivy-League schools as undergrads join his study group.

Cruz is keeping one eye on the 2024 race, and doesn’t want Hawley to get a jump with the MAGAts.
Perhaps more interesting though, is roughly a quarter of the GOP caucus in the Senate is bucking McConnell on basically a usually piece of theater. But they are bucking him. It will be interesting to see if anybody challenges him for Minority/majority leader after the GA races.
And, assuming he does stay on, it potentially gives more wiggle room for Romney, Collins, Murkowski, Sasse on future deals if McConnell can’t keep his senators in control.
