A Covid emergency has been declared for the first time since the advent of delta/omicron in two hospitals in Maryland today (Dec 24th). Both are located in Harford County, north of Baltimore. The only two hospitals in the county.
A red area with a 2-vax rate of 56.5% - and 75 to 80 percent of the patients that have been admitted to these hospitals because of Covid are unvaccinated.

Today it has hit home. My daughter and her partner tested positive Saturday and today. Regrettably, I could not keep from hugging all three of them Christmas morning and fear I will test next.

When my mother in law died of old fashioned, smoking-related COPD, she spent her last wakeful day alone like a covid patient because the apparatus she needed was in the covid wing, where no visitors were allowed. Made her “ordinary” death anything but.
