CPAC Keeping Orbán As Keynote Speaker Even After Nazi-Esque Rant Against ‘Race Mixing’

Although her criticism is late, she has still shown more courage that almost the entire GOP.

I’m half Italian. Ancestors from Rome. Pretty damned white. Like bars of soap.
Point was, inviting a dictator to 'murica. Takes balls. Hope the Dems do something with this.
“Would you invite Putin as keynote speaker”. As I write this, I can easily imagine TFG doing just that.

I was just reading an article on DeSantis wants to intervene in conversations FL companies may have with their employees regarding racism, sexism, transphobia, CRT—pretty much any pick of the current RWNJ boogeymen.

Two companies are fighting this in court. Not sure how this clearly unconstitutional law and infringement on First Amendment rights was even signed into legislation.

Literally, what-the-fuckity-fuck?!

Hungarians can count among their proud forebears the Mongol Huns – people who wore rancid butter pomade and cloaks made from the skins of field mice sewn together. I’m not racist mind you. Just trying to see things from their perspective.

No official Republican position on gun subsidies yet? We pay farmers not to grow corn. We could pay gun manufacturers not to build AR-15s.

You’re correct. They’re not conservative. They’re KKKONSERVATIVE!

People are using AR-15s “to put food on the table”?!? I guess it works kind of like a combination rifle and Cusinart, where the meat is all shredded for you?

They are radical reactionaries. No consistency to their politics other than tribalism and grievances.

Does Orban have any idea of the importance of Immigration in Hungarian history?

LBJ said this in 1967 and it still applies to KKKonservatives!

This is an inflection point. The G.O.P. are saying the quiet part out loud. It’s a feature, not a bug. I’m old enough to remember when Trump defenders said they liked his policies but not his authoritarian tendencies. But that was then, and this is now.

That wouldn’t have been at all out of the question.

For one thing, the Dante Alighieri Society of the time was largely aligned with (or taken over by) the Fascists.

For another, Mussolini was quite popular here in the early 1930s. When FDR was first elected, there were even voices – lots of them, respectable ones, too – urging him to assume dictatorial emergency powers to deal with the Depression.

Il Duce’s brand kinda took a hit a few years later, first with the war crimes in Africa and then with his alliance with Hitler.

Orban blithely ignores the Asian roots of his part of Europe.

I wasn’t saying Italians aren’t “white”, I was pointing out that Italians weren’t as beloved in the past as they are now.

And just like any conversation on race superiority, which dumb and stupid, Southern Europeans weren’t considered acceptable. Even though it was the Spanish, with that one Italian discovering the New World.

There was a time when the Irish weren’t beloved either.
