Court Doc Shows Govt’s Plea Negotiations With Famous Metal Guitarist Charged In Capitol Riot | Talking Points Memo

I thought of that, but I was imaging a whole group of reporters honing their refresh skills, which in turn would position them to be aces for signing up for the COVID vaccine. I mean a stupid skill that can save your life during a global pandemic that only comes around once in a hundred years, has gotta be worth something, right?

Depending on the size of the operation, I suspect interns or low level admins check every morning, afternoon and evening for filings. Probably pure luck that they got this.

ETA: as an attorney when I’m a party to the case, I get a notice for every filing in the case. I don’t know if non-parties can request these notices.

Thanks, but it just fits.

But… The European circuit does come with bonus groupies with fancy accents.

contrary to popular belief, very few of these musicians make serious money. Especially now in the iMusic world. most struggle to earn a decent living.

Yeah I think so too.

That’s still always a possibility, but I would I suspect in many/most cases that either they leave the page open and the “refresh” is done automatically in real time (like the comments pages here at TPM), or they get notifications.

Of course, there are always those obsessive people who may just sit there poised like a cat waiting for the mouse to stick its nose out of the hole. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Well thank you! That woke me up.

Well there’s the between a rock and a hard place. If Schaffer squeals those on the outside they won’t take too kindly to that, and those on the inside the same, but hey he still will have is 2A on the outside. That should give him peace of mind.

@emptywheel seems to have made this part of her beat, at least with respect to 1/6 and other Drumpf peccadilloes.

Weren’t the Oaf keepers “bodyguards” for Roger Stone?

Yup. All roads lead to Roger.

Famous? Never famous, but now he’s infamous.

Yeah, and they’re the exact same groupies who attended those shows back in the '80s. Life is not caviar and champagne for a guy in his 50s still running down his heavy metal dreams in an obscure band he started in 1985. Which probably explains how he ended up hanging out with Alex Jones in the first place. It’s happened to a bunch of his peers from that era too. A brief taste of success followed by decades of grinding away to little monetary reward or quitting the band to take whatever day job is available. It fits the profile of a Trumptard pretty much perfectly.

I liked Schaffer’s band Iced Earth at one time and have several of the band’s CDs; however, I haven’t followed them all that closely over the past decade or so. That being said, I’m know, from what I’ve read, that Schaffer is not famous outside of his band’s cult following. At best, in the U.S. he can headline small clubs in select areas or be part of small theater (2,000-4,000 seat) concert tours in which three or four bands essentially co-headline shows, with each band playing the same 60-or-so-minute shows and the bands alternating who closes the show on a given night. Also from what I’ve read, the band’s popularity outside the U.S. isn’t much bigger, as Iced Earth plays a shit-ton of festivals outside the U.S. as a low-level, early-in-concert-day-performer, with some limited concerts scheduled in between those festival shows.

One more thing: I don’t care if this buttwipe turned out to be Ritchie Blackmore in disguise; throw his seditionist butt in prison for a long f****n’ time unless he provides a bunch of valuable info on other seditionists higher up the insurrectionist food chain.

The proverbial lounge act who never made it to the big room. He was nursing his wounded sense of entitlement in obscurity and then Trump came along and gave him license to revenge himself on the recalcitrant world refusing to recognize and reward his genius.

Methinks there was a shitload of that - exactly that - with the insurrectionists and the supporters of the MFWWNBN.

Please change the headline to “… plea negotiations with a little-known metal guitarist…”

After spending so many years up on the stage as the center of attention he must find it hard to tolerate sleeping in the federal sneezer. This would be quite an inspiration for him to start singing again to an audience of two or three.
