Coons Says ‘Timing May Not Have Been Best’ When Schumer Blasted GOPers After Debt Ceiling Extension Passed | Talking Points Memo

Not sure the Ghost even makes the hottest list any more; e.g., 2020 Hottest Peppers.

Personally I’d like to give the damned turtle the entire list in suppository form TBH.

So Dems are supposed to celebrate because 78% (39 of 50) of GOP Senators.voted to not raise the debt limit, risking economic disaster to our country?

Cry me a dry river!

The abuser says to the abused: “You made me beat you to a pulp. If only you hadn’t said what you said that hurt my feelings.”

Oh for Pete’s sake:

Why must the Dems be held to a higher standard of decorum and comity than the rest of the frickin’ country???

When will the messaging finally call a spade a shovel and smack the recalcitrants into submission? Does anyone think for one moment the GQP leadership wouldn’t be far more vile?

Yeah, Biden won - get over it, Mitch. And so did the Dems in the Senate.

Worse than that. 11 of 50 voted to let there be a vote. When it came time to vote on paying the debt they’ve both spent decades incurring, not one of the Republicans agreed the US should pay the debt it has already incurred. Not one of them.

I’m extremely fatigued with Sen. Coons and his like-minded Dem colleagues acting like wusses in the face of Repug obstructionism and plain-old whining.

Thanks for the correction. All GOP Senators voted to crash and burn our economy.

And here on display we have the difference between Democrats and Republicans. When Republicans do outrageous things all Republicans defend their own in lockstep. When a Democrat does something like criticize Republicans for doing an outrageous thing, they don’t defend their own. They make excuses. It’s really pathetic to watch.

…or if Schumer were to do nothing at all.

Sour grapes, that’s all it is.

If Republicans really don’t want to be called out for obstructionist bullshit, why do it every time?

All of the GOP, including Turtlehead, make speeches and statements like this and worse all the time. They blame it on the expectations of their base. Maybe Chuck’s base has expectations too.

Fuck McConnell and his whiny little letter to the President. “O, Chuck hurt my feelings, the big bully! Now I’m not going to ever vote to keep the country out of default again so don’t you ask me for help, Mr Preznuts, because it’s an all Democrat government even though I hold the keys to passing anything in the Senate. And nothing is getting passed, either!”

The worry here is that Coons is speaking as a Biden surrogate, because the Democrats have to be immune to pearl-clutching if they are going to win against a GOP that has no shame. Schumer needs to double down and explicitly call the GOP out for hostage-taking, and the media for being more offended by truth-telling than economic sabotage.

“And all of us agree that we need more civility in our Congress and our country. If we’re going to solve problems facing the American people, we have to be able to work together,” Coons said.

Inspiring! Let’s “work together” with the people who are blasting holes through the hull of the ship. If we’re nice to them, I’m sure they’ll stop, patch up those holes, link arms, and sing an uplifting anthem with you in multi-part harmony.

The leader of the Republican Party calls Schumer “Cryin Chuck” like a middle school bully all the time. With nary a criticism from any Republicans. And, this whole crisis was manufactured to try to give Republicans a BS talking point about Democrats being responsible for the debt. Yet, Democrats are expected to refrain from policy based criticism of Republicans out of concern for their delicate sensibilities. Coons needs to stop being a chump.
