In yet another dire election forecast for President Donald Trump, the Cook Political Report announced on Wednesday that the crucial swing states of Wisconsin and Pennsylvania are now leaning blue amid Trump’s blundering response to COVID-19 and his near-constant trafficking in racist dogwhistling in recent weeks.
I think it’s time to start shouting that Trump wants Covid-19 ablaze in Nov. in an effort to help his election chances. We all know this is true. With his followers willing to possibly die for him he will burn this country to the ground just to save his ass.
We’ve now had about 40 years of concerted propaganda and legal efforts by Right-wing power centers in this country, including the Koch Brothers, Rupert Murdoch, the Hunt, the Mellon-Scaife, Olin and Bradley Foundations, to keep the political pendulum from swinging left.
All this is doing is delaying the swing, and it seems to me that when it happens it’ll be more powerful from being long-overdue. I hope it’ll happen in my lifetime.
The fact that PA and WI are even close makes me weep for our nation. All the rural and suburban knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing racists are an embarrassment to the country.
Trump could drag down congressional candidates along with him.
A momentary vision of them trying and failing to tread water in storm-tossed seas, and I sighed happily trying to delay the inevitable realization that it was just a metaphor…
Per FiveThirtyEight, Trump currently trails Biden in Wisconsin by nearly 8 points and in Pennsylvania by 7.4 points. Both states were key to Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton after he won them by razor–thin margins of less than 1 percent in 2016.
I understand the reticence against making a more aggressive call than “leaning blue”, but 8 and 7.4 point margins are pretty healthy leads.
Hopefully there won’t be lots of people who want Biden to win who end up not voting because they figure he has it in the bag. These are roughly the same people who don’t wear masks, not because they think it’s a hoax or want to own the libs, but because “Duh, wuh, huh?”.
Stupidity isn’t the exclusive province of the far right, even if it owns the lion’s share of it.
By-gosh, I don’t wanna jinx this thing but I think they fixed the site problems.
I just wanna post this article I just read when the site was going bonkers because it really is one of the most cogent and articulate retrospective of how we got here by tRump and his enablers and frankly what to expect in the next few months.
He fucked up this Covid-19 crisis from the start. We all know that here, but this recap is a really good one I’ll be sure to refer back to often when considering the malevolent moves these assholes make going forward.
The monsters in tRump’s orbit want us to take risks with our lives at the expense of tRump’s insecure ego and innate cruel streak when he feels threatened (which unfortunately is always…He’s always a perpetual victim). No one should be willing to die for that shit. His negligence and malice are no reason to go against all scientific guidance showing us an opposite course of action. Its just not logical nor prudent.
If these tRumpers have their way we will all be dead and they honestly could care less because power and the idea of pleasing tRump is all they seek. It has the stench of sycophancy by a skein of scoundrels that America is forced to rebut time and again over their worst laid plans. America should unite to have none of it. There is no plan, just orders and we are all supposed to be good soldiers in tRump’s plans.
Btw, is it any surprise that Biden basically has to do nothing other than let tRump dig himself deeper in his own hole in places where he was already just barely cutting out a slim majority in those states in 2016?
forcing the primary down their throats in the middle of covid in order to get a judicial win not only did not work but really pissed a lot of people off.
This is all good news, but I am bracing for an October surprise – along the lines of (somehow) Trump is out and a palatable Republican candidate is in, providing a non-Biden option to those currently wavering Republicans in former toss-up states.
I can’t see the Republican party going down with Trump without a fight.
