Well, once again I’ll play devil’s advocate and suggest that I admire her ability to use double-talk to suggest a thing without technically saying anything at all. There’s no meaning here, no testable assertion. This is COVID-19, not COVID-1, which means WHO is to blame and not trustworthy because—and by the time you get to that point, trying to figure it out, any significance those words in that order could have has run out between your fingers and is gone. It means nothing, but it sounds, for a moment, like it might. If you don’t think about it past that moment, if you’re working on replacing some brake pads or trying to get the kids’ shoes tied while it’s on, it might stay with you as she intends. Try doing that yourself some time if you think it’s easy. It’s wrong, it’s bad, it’s pernicious, it’s a betrayal. Not easy, though.
