Trump seethes every day about Obama’s ridicule, humiliation and mockery of him at the 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner. A plausible argument can be made the experience that night is the primary motivator that drove Trump to seek the Presidency. Trump is the ultimate snowflake. Bruises like a ripe peach.

Don’t be so sure. As president, trump has the best and most medical care hovering over him 24x7, with instant copter transport to any hospital in the country.
Moreover, we have the medical technology to keep a pile of meat breathing and blood pumping through it indefinitely. For YEARS. And, if public “appearances” are what you need, anybody can operate a Xitty-phone and mimic the First Felon’s style. Videos can be quite easily assembled of “him” and audio generated, so teevie appearances are taken care of. Even “big screen” showings at outdoor rallies.
Read “The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.” You don’t even need a live figurehead to have a viable and effective figurehead.

His words in cases like this are utterly predictable, don’t rise to the level of news, lack any credibility and, in my view, shouldn’t be sought or carried.

If they can tell you how to think and what to say about Charlie Kirk’s death, if they can threaten to declare Antifa a terrorist organization, if Jimmy Kimmel gets cancelled for simply calling Kirk’s beliefs what they were, while a Fox “News” host who calls for arbitrarily killing homeless people (one wonders if this include a niece of my wife’s and a nephew of mine - well of course it does) keeps his job, if the head of the FCC can with a straight face say Kimmel is lying and get him pulled while allowing the lies on Fox to flourish (and did I mention the President’s Promethean torrent of lies and slanders*), well then . . .
What is to stop them from outlawing the American Association of University Professors as a terrorist organization because they don’t like what and how professors teach? What about actors equity because of provocative performances? What is to stop them from going after the Democratic Party as such, because they promote the horrors of, oh I don’t know, health care and a clean environment and a woman’s right to choose?
The answer is nothing. This regime is ruling through fear and intimidation, which Cicero, Seneca, Plato, and above all Tacitus see as tyranny’s very essence.
And for whoever put this image up of Kirk, get your dates right. It’s not 1993-2025. It’s 1861-1865-1933-1945-1993-2025, and all the points before, in between, and those to come . . . because the bigotry and animus just go on and on and on. Precision has its place.
*The Greek verb for slander is diaballo, from which we get, among other things, Le Diable, diabolic, and devil.

They already neutered and defunded PBS and NPR with the help of the Republicans in Congress with that Big Bullshit Bill, so that it can’t function effectively as a public service entity. All part of Project 2025. It was a warning half the country didn’t want to heed and millions chose to stay home and not vote for one way or another in the last election.
My guess is someone will soon buy up the leftover public access channels that aren’t already devoted to Xtian ministers, prosperity gospel hours and local municipal meetings.
All media is going to be driven by a rightwing FCC to steer the electorate towards their preferred propaganda and politics. The blueprint by Goebbels was already there.

Reagan did a state visit in the early 1980’s so dear donald is not the first. GHW Bush and Obama visited as well. As for his “last” comment it may be his last visit. There will be other presidents. trump is not immortal.

Valentine, Kombo Kat & Nosey the Curious Cat are all in mourning with me thinking of all our friends back Stateside who are descending into the darkness.
