Conservative Justices Bemoan Bad Options To Block Texas Abortion Ban | Talking Points Memo

At least I didn’t typo and use Mime.

That would just be flat out odd. I would hate to be greeted with my neighbor silently raging on my door step, doing man in an invisible box.

Actually, that might be fun to watch when I think of it.

Have they actually seen who they are up against?

The brilliance of Gorsuch,

General, are you aware of a precedent that permits an injunction against all persons in the country or the world, the cosmos, who bring suit?” Gorsuch asked Prelogar incredulously.

Fair. Shoot them with the lights on. I suggest this only because I live in the Failed Confederacy and we all know who is walking around armed, and it isn’t the Democrats (mostly–I leave mine in the closet).

Not the usual wry humor that I love from you, but I can’t disagree with anything you said.

Astonishing given that wasn’t the relief requested. It’s almost as though the gop judges are making sound bites for their base.

While they may be dangerous in the immediate sense in a situation, I just don’t see the cosplayer’s a force for the future of Republican’s desires.

Honestly I have no doubt there are plenty of lawyers in Texas who are just as able as lawyers anywhere else. But I think these characters could find a rationale to block this ban if they wanted to, being so brilliant and magisterial and all that. If stare decisis mattered to them, I’m pretty sure they could think of some way out of this maze.

Unless your neighbors are like mine and should be confined to a box, invisible or otherwise.

The solution is simple. Put birth control chemicals in the Texas water supplies.

I have a few odd ones, but no one currently near by I see as an issue. But I see plenty of problem children within the neighborhood as a whole. There is something going on two blocks past me that neighbors and cops allude to at times. Then we have a little enclave of Trumpers down another block with the over blown, jacked up trucks.

What I see is not so much brilliance. It smacks more of stacking the deck, cheating in full view.

Honestly, does the Constitution allow laws like this one in Texas? Basically vigilante justice. What do some of the Constitutional experts say? Are these arguments for remedies being made before the Supreme Court off the mark?

It’s almost as if they have already made up their minds as to how to dispose of this matter. How shocking.

Again I must take issue with the headline, “Conservative Justices”. There is nothing "conservative about the Republicans who dominate the Supreme Court. If they were “conservative” like Nixon appointee Justice Harry Blackburn who wrote the original Roe decision, keeping Government out of the womb would be an easy decision to uphold.

“you’re seeking an injunction against the world, right?””

THAT’S THE ESSENCE OF WHAT A FUCKING RIGHT IS, YOU FUCKING COCKSUCKING THEOCRAT!!!

That’s exactly what I’m saying. As I understand it the law is a crude ruse, designed to sidestep and evade Roe, and the justices are pretending not to see any weaknesses in it that would allow them to step in and defend the precedent. It’s the opposite of saying you could if you wanted to. They’re pretending to want to, and pretending they can’t do anything.

He’s a real piece of shit - pompous, condescending, insufferable. At least Thomas kept his mouth shut for 50 years - of course that was because he was afraid of Scalia, not because he had nothing to say.

It’s all the more egregious since the maze only exists as a concept in the minds of the Texas Lege and Solicitor General and only they can see the walls.

“I’m sorry Justice, you have to stop there. The text of the law says you’ve hit a dead end. You have to turn around and try another direction.”

Again, “maze” is sarcastic. I’m not equipped to say what the weaknesses in the Texas law are, but given the situation I’m pretty confident they could be found and acted on. These are just crocodile tears, these faux frustrations and concerns about the mechanisms of the relief being asked for.
