The theory asserts that under the U.S. Constitution, state legislatures have full authority to set the rules when it comes to making state laws that apply to federal elections, and that state constitutions and state courts have no power or authority over them.
Why stop at gerrymandering when an independent Democratic legislature can give African-Americans two votes to one for whites. Or decide there was enough voting and order counting stopped with liberals ahead. Or order blue districts counted first, and then stop counting.
Why leave any election up to chance?

Correct me if I have this wrong, but from what I have read about these reform bills, neither addresses the only two factors that are important in protecting the results of the election as the determiner of who becomes the next president – state control of elections, and the joint session as the final authority on who won. At most they make more difficult this or that isolated aspect of the many schemes of Eastman and others after the 2020 election to secure the succession to the presidency to the person who lost the election, but if you don’t deal with the two real problems, none of these lesser obstacles to stealing the election in the states or at the joint session will have any protective effect at all.
We’re just playing whack-a-mole with these reform bills.

Everyone just seems to be assuming they’d oppose it.
Make them vote.
If they default on the debt ceiling, the economic destruction will make 2008 look like a quarter point interest rate hike. It will be the exact same credit freeze that happened in 2008 except without the government being able to use the full faith and credit of the United States to break up the ice. Because the cause of the crisis will be our default on full faith and credit.
And in that environment, fascists win. Which is precisely why the Republicans will do it if they’re not stopped now.

The most evidence I’ve seen for that claim is some anonymous staffers saying “we don’t think Manchin and Sinema would be for it because it wouldn’t be bipartisan.”
Seems like something besides a “pfft, why bother?” without trying is in order. Because this is “find out what their price is and pay it” important. Not “eh, it would be nice to do if it was easy” important.

What I wrote is meant to be insulting to a woman who goes above and beyond to do nothing for the people she is supposed to represent. She also hurts the rest of us in this Country with the way she votes with repubs for her own self enrichment.
