Senate Armed Services Chair Roger Wicker (R-MS) criticized President Donald Trump’s supposed peace deal with Iran on Thursday, saying he is concerned the agreement  “negotiates away the victories of Operation Epic Fury.” “Since day one, I have supported President Trump’s efforts to end Iran’s 47-year threat to the United States and our partners. Donald J. Trump is the only head of state in the entire world who is sympathetic to the nation of Israel at this moment in time. If I was in the cabinet of the Israeli government, I might not be attacking the only powerful ally that I have anywhere left in the entire world.

About the only thing that JD Vance said that is absolute truth

have supported President Trump’s efforts to end Iran’s 47-year threat to the United States

This is another Big Lie, unfortunately which goes uncorrected in most media reporting. The Iranian people did not suddenly wake up 47 years ago in 1979 hating the US. That hate was developed over the previous 26 years after the CIA overthrew the democratically elected government of Iran and installed the dictatorial Shah with his dreaded secret police Savak. The father of General Norman Schwarzkopf, a veteran of WW I, actually trained the Savak. The CIA overthrew the Iranian government to protect British oil interests in Iran, subjecting the Iranian people to a US puppet regime.

And I can also mention the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s when the Reagan administration sided with Saddam Hussein in trying to overthrow the Iranian government. That country lost of lot of soldiers defending against US weapons.

You’re going to eat that shit sandwich and you’re going to like it, Republicans. There’s no point acting offended now after ceding your constitutional authority for the entirety of this illegal war.

“Victories”?? Name one, I’ll wait. These people are either deluded or they think we are all stupid. We didn’t win a thing, other than the further loss of the world’s respect for us.

I’m concerned that Senator Wicker believes Operation Epic Fury produced any victories. Other than Iran’s, that is.

Other than successfully targeting a girl’s school – Twice! – I can’t think of any other thing that, using what I believe to be Wicker’s metric, remotely qualifies as a military victory. I hope he’ll fill us in on these glorious acts of heroism soon.

I liked Eddie Glaude’s statement on the “bad deal” on MSNOW today. He said that both Biden and Trump got it right - these Mideast wars are unwinnable. Get out while you can and minimize casualties. Bush and Obama never really figured that out.

NOT killing people is better than killing people. No matter how bad this deal is for the USA - it is not nearly as bad as going back to war. Not even close.

Overthrowing the Iranian government without conquering the entire country via ground troops was impossible. Nobody I know wants 500,000 US casualties.

WRT Israel and the threat of Iranian nukes, that is an easy one - Israel should just fess up about their OWN secret nukes and tell Iran that if Mossad finds out Iran made one, an Israeli nuke will flatten Tehran overnight. Easy solution. It’s called “Mini-MAD.”

Don’t forget Iran-Contra - with Reagan trying to play both sides during the Iran-Iraq war.

Even while applying pressure against Iran, some of Reagan’s advisors hoped to enlist that nation’s cooperation in securing the release of U.S. hostages in Lebanon.

With the help of Israel, deliveries of U.S. weapons to Iran began in August 1985. By the end of October 1986, Iran had received more than 2,000 TOW anti-tank missiles as well as spare parts for HAWK antiaircraft missiles.
