Colorado Republicans Attack Jewish Gov Candidate With AI ‘Cartoon Devil Horns’ Graphic

…like that Mary worshipping papist stooge John Moretti, running for city council. See, it’s not personal at all!”

Every single candidate running in our local elections in the primaries for state representatives and state senators is a Republican. Every single candidate running in every seat. I didn’t vote in any of those elections for the primary, and I don’t think I will have the energy to vote for the lesser evil in the general. I may be forced to.

This is the blessing and the curse of Washington State’s top two primary system. The curse is I will have to vote for a Republican in the fall, but the blessing is that a more moderate Republican might win.

Marx is a shining example of why Colorado won’t elect GOP candidates to any office above the county level. Last I looked, Weiser was leading by 20 or so percentage points.
And gosh….. stupid shit like this isn’t gonna’ help none.
I believe that Colorado is still a purple state but it’s going to remain blue as long as these are the best candidates that the republicans can come up with.

Edit: I am really looking forward to having a normal Democratic governor in office. Polis has made far too many mistakes.

Thanks for reminding me of Henry Gibson. He was one of the more absurd comedians from the 1970-80s. I loved him playing the leader of the Illinois Nazis in the Blues Brothers.

Which district are you in?

Having lived on the western slope a while back, I expect that Sean Pond had no freaking idea that Weiser was Jewish.

**You’ve got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land—the common clay of the new West. You know… morons.
**
He was, much more likely, riffing on the common GOP slur of Demoncrat when he told his AI slop machine to draw that.

I don’t know if it was still true in the 1990’s, but when I was growing up in NJ in the ‘50’s and ‘60’s, beer was wasn’t taxed because it was “the working man’s beverage.”

If that’s true and he cast as the devil a man he knows so little about, he’s too ignorant and careless to hold public office. But the real kicker is that he did not apologize and take down the post. He need not have issued an abject apology but rather a statement explaining what he’d intended (or claims to have intended), that he hadn’t known Weiser was Jewish (or claims he hadn’t known), and that, given that he now realizes the post could be considered anti-Semitic, he has taken it down.

Pond knows better - that is what makes this all the more despicable

He knows full well …

“Depicting Jewish people with horns is a centuries-old, dehumanizing, antisemitic trope,”

Next he’ll pass it off as just “lockerroom banter”

…but as for Marx - well fuck him - his comments were fully intentional - pandering bigotry.

Jim Florio was just barely edged out by Tom Kean Sr. in 1981.
Kean went on to be a two term governor - but left a fiscal mess behind -

Then Florio won in 1989…

Florio took office during the late 1980s recession and thus faced a budget deficit.

(On occasion Kean has acknowledged that Florio was handdd a hidious situation)

Also, Florio wished to (and was obligated to) increase education aid to New Jersey’s low-wealth school districts.

Faced with a projected 1991 Government budget deficit of $3 billion, Florio asked for a $2.8 billion tax increase, most in the way of a sales tax.

The money generated balanced the budget, increased property tax relief programs, and increased education spending in the designated low-wealth districts. Florio also eliminated 1,500 government jobs and cut perks for state officials.

Florio was given a mess - cleaned it up - essentially exercised fiscal responsibility …
and then when Whitman got in she sold off various asset, spent that $$$ & ran that debt right back up

But oh my Florio made people pay an extra 7 cents on the dollar for toilet paper!

Oh yeah … and there was this -

Whitman’s campaign manager (Ed Rollins - yeah - that guy), bragged about having spent $500,000 to suppress the black vote.

As history has shown, they come out of the woodwork every time the underclass starts to get angry about how badly they are screwed.

Even if anyone wanted to believe the BS excuse that he didn’t know it was an anti-Semitic trope (an excuse I’m not buying), I can’t muster any respect for people who think this is an acceptable way to portray a political opponent.

I know vodka and other “spirits” are taxed today.

Don’t know about beer. Never really paid attention, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it were

Thanks for the other details. Wasn’t paying much attention back then.

Personally didn’t care about the toilet paper. but I will admit I bought one of those big bricks of TP the week before the tax kicked in. haha

But it hit that media nerve and they ran with it. Constant feature on the local news.

Yeah, that “media nerve” became the spinal cord of local hate talk radio and spawned the noxious village idiot “Tea Party”

Further, the “evil” the GOP has broadcasted forever has never been clearly defined, just the same old mumbo jumbo fear mongering and projection of their own behavior.

Come on, now. I searched Countycomm, and there’s no such thing as a tactical spork.
