Collins Opposes Tanden Nom. In Sudden Concern Over ‘Temperament’ And ‘Transparency’

Unless they come up with a lot more than “she posted mean tweets”, none of which were alleged to be racist, sexist, anything actually objectionable, then no, it’s not ok.

She’s eminently qualified, the mean tweets is a fig-leaf for the racists and sexists in the Senate to vote against her without having to publicly state that they’re doing it because they are racist and sexist.

Well, let’s not forget that so-called Mr. “Gandhi” (not his real name) was a fraud and pleaded guilty thereto.

And to be fair, let’s also not forget it was the Clinton DOJ that indicted him.

Also, I’m not sure about using the episode as proof that Collins was or is a racist.

Maybe, but it’s possible that Tanden’s tweets are also an issue.

I wish she hadn’t deleted them, because Collins used that as a secondary reason.

It’s possible that her nomination will last until Tuesday. The WH has a list of guys who can be OMB Director, so the major issue is hypocrisy.

Yup.
All around bad idea.
Even if one is good at being Twitter Partisan, it’s only leaving around things for people to use against you - basically saying “over beers” kinda stuff but on the permanent record. Bad idea.

Well, in that case, fire away!

You can start by calling me “the worst”!

Didn’t she vote to confirm Cavanagh? Even after his enraged accusation that Democrats were out to get him & “what goes around comes around”?

yup… and any lip service to her imaginary centrism just emboldens the charade that makes people like my in-laws vote for her EVERY time. The talking point up here in Maine is that she’s compassionate, and reasonable, and works across the isle. Utter horse-shit.

You’re the worst.

Vampires do want a word with her after she said they had more heart than ted cruz.

Lot worse and more controversial stuff sails through tpm boards every day without a blink of an eye.

It’s quite clear that Collins has not “learned her lesson.”

OT. Can any of the lawyers in the group comment.? How deep in kimchi is this guy? It would seem to me that Dominion has a pretty good case, the damage is real, it was verifiable weapons grade BS what Lindell was peddling and he kept at after everybody else had said so. But I imagine that the guy must have had some legal advise before doubling down with that stupid “documentary”.

What are Tanden’s qualifications for running OMB?

She’s a lawyer who has run a small think-tank in DC. I know she is smart and can think on her feet.

Also, I hear she tweets.

What else?

Twitter is why some of these people are where they are. Saying “don’t tweet” is also saying, “don’t participate in the forum where your colleagues network.”

I asked Alexa to show me an example of someone pulling the ladder up after them, and it pulled up Megan McArdle’s “don’t tweet” column.

Yeah. His lawyer told him, “Don’t. Just. Don’t.”

A guy who sells pillows and goes to the WH with detailed notes on coups ain’t the brightest bulb out there.

Most of it anonymous-ish.

And not directed at Senate-confirmation honchos.

Yeah, we all know they turn a blind eye when it convenient and I’m not saying trust Collins, just asking is Tanden the only candidate?

Regardless of whether Tanden is the best candidate for the OMB position, the stance that the author of this article is taking is clear with its title including Sudden Concern.

During the Trump Era, Collins would have supported a person with 10% of Tanden’s ability and character.

Well, maybe, but the “problem” isn’t the fact that Tanden tweeted. It’s how she tweeted.

“Scrutinize your TPM comments”

There is much an HR professional can suss out of our memes, puns and obscure cultural references. That’s for sure!

On a practical level I agree with you. But the hypocrisy of Machin and Collins in particular just turns my stomach.
