“(Some aides are) reassuring the president that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is just placating Democrats and won’t ultimately drive the process toward an impeachment vote,” Acosta said.

It’s hard to imagine why anyone would say that unless the only objective is to avoid Trump’s wrath and keep some semblance of peace in the WH.

Of course he’ll be impeached. There’s little doubt about it now.

The only question remaining is do we want to rush to impeachment soon so the Senate can have a trial and declare him not guilty by sometime in January, and then he can run for reelection with that threat gone, no more hearings, and mostly unscathed.

Or as this guy puts it:

Sounds like they’re managing a toddler who happens to be holding a gun. Some try the reassurance, others try the serious voice.

Impeached? 100% Lock-of-the-day…

Convicted? Maybe 10%

Yep. Which means that the only actual power of impeachment is the ability to have hearings, and ones that people will actually watch, for as extended a period as possible. You’ve been given the most powerful tool to educate the public, counter GOP spin, and shine a spotlight on Trump’s crimes, don’t throw it away and rush past it to a vote that will be largely toothless.

Jimmy Kimmel had a memorable line about this last night:

“Trump could be the first American president to get impeached by a whistleblowjob.”

That is until we succeed in opening the vault with all your Puti calls and the exact transcripts of everything that your evil traitorous heart has proposed to foreign leaders

OT - Rudy’s friends are shaking people down in Florida. Are you a dangling participle? https://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/article235626327.html

Ukrainians are telling people whom they owe money that they’ll have to make a deal to make them go away, citing connections with state dept. and Rudy. This is hyuuge.

Of course he’s getting impeached. Nancy didn’t play this card until she was sure of the result.

The tid-bit comes on the heels of a House Democrats’ subpoena of Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani and reports that the White House is largely unorganized in everything it does, letting Trump do whatever the fuck he wants for whatever reason, consequences be damned.

Fixed.

The reassurance was followed by “so let me hold the phone for you.”

Anything other than an impeachment vote, when the time is right, would end the Democrats holding the House.

The Trump Impeachment Train has left the station. All we can do now is to check with the ‘conductor’ when we arrive.

“A lot of people say Obama should be impeached.”

It’d be helpful if folks started reporting accurately that it isn’t DEMOCRATS who are on the edge with voters. It’s REPUBLICANS.

The late Barbara Jordan was wise in 1974. The power to impeach, she noted, "comes from the abuse or violation of some public trust. It is wrong, I suggest, it is a misreading of the Constitution, for any member here to assert that for a member to vote for an article of impeachment means that that member must be convinced that the President should be removed from office.

"The Constitution doesn’t say that. "

So it is a simple, factual question for EVERY Representative: did the President violate his public trust?

Even McCarthy has said yes. Don’t let any of 'em off the hook.
