Right in the middle of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, then-President Donald Trump defended the attackers to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), CNN reported Friday.
If called to testify he will refuse or lie or say he doesn’t remember.

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) said she was not satisfied with the answer she got from Trump’s team to her question about when Trump learned of the Capitol breach and what he did to respond to it.
It’s good to know she’s still “concerned”.

Okay, then… in a few months, latest, after the dam of disclosures has broken, the GOP Senate’s defense of their non-conviction will be that if the House had only delayed, and investigated, why yes, they would absolutely have (unconstitutionally?) have voted to convict. But based on the facts before them, what could they do? Sick bastards gotta…

It’s getting harder for them to cling to a plausible pretext for acquittal. They’re slowly being reduced to 4th stage owning the libs “fuck all y’all, we’re acquitting because we can.”
So…if this was widely told to Republicans back in January, including some who were not happy with Trump…I don’t understand why we’re only hearing about it now.

Or, they just say simply “if there’s a crime, then it’s up to the courts to decide, not us”. I think this is their weasel-wazzle defense to get out of voting to convict, their base sees as sarcastic, and some wrongly actually thinking they mean this and being “fair”.
And, yet, he voted against impeachment and didn’t whip his caucus to support it.

Perhaps some GOP aides took umbrage at having their lives threatened and leaked this after watching and hearing the pathetic performance of Trump’s lawyers today. Straw, camel, extreme sciatica.
