The defense guy’s demeanor is annoyingly gentle. He has a distinct “mansplaining” sound.

The Coast Guard bit was unexpected (to me).

That testimony is intended to demonstrate to the jury how well the defendant understood the rules of the use of deadly force, with the implication being that his decision to employ it was therefore reasonable. It’s a poor explanation under the objective facts of this case, but you work with what you’ve got.

Incidentally, these goobers are obviously getting convicted.

He is apparently one of their well-trained finest. The thin aqua line.

Those who spend all that time learning about use of force is because they want to kill someone, and they are not let a chance pass.

Absent recent events elsewhere I would have no worries. But from what I have seen of this trial, I would agree.

I believe it’s more accurately describes as racesplaining. He’s well-practiced in the art of explaining why obviously racist things are not as obviously racist as they might seem.

If not for the fact many murderers go free, I would be confident these murderers will not go free.

It doesn’t sound like they did in this case.

I don’t know yet if the judge allowed it, but sounds like that’s instant mistrial if [s]he did.

Reminds me of George Will

One more time: when you can’t even be trusted to drive a truck, they make you an MP.

The dispute over the slides that the defense has prepared for its presentation has been addressed, with Judge Walmsley saying he’s fine with certain images being used as “chapter markers,

So the judge approved them, with the prosecution suggesting that they will object

to certain slides if they present significant new details that haven’t come up before.

ETA:

including describing the footage of Arbery wandering around a construction site in the neighborhood a few months prior to the confrontation.

Ah, the crime of WWB - walking while Black.

Granted. I guess it hit me that he is trying to contrast with the prosecutor.
