But at least he’s not in a job that requires a clear understanding of the plain meaning of the written law, or anything like that.

Uh, hang on, let me check my notes…

Crow tells me what the law is.
Don’t need no understanding of no stinking law.

Have the Crows enjoyed the Thomases hospitality in their camper in a Walmart parking lot?

Friendships are reciprocal. Grooming and bribing are unidirectional.

Perfectly normal for Thomas to read the plain language of the law, decide he doesn’t understand what the words mean and can’t interpret them himself, consult his colleagues, and then adopt a very broad reading that goes well beyond the words on the page. That’s totally his thing right??

When I read this:

In a previous statement to ProPublica, Crow said that Thomas “never asked for any of this hospitality” and that his treatment of the justice was “no different from the hospitality we have extended to our many other dear friends.”

I immediately thought of what a big “sugar daddy” this fat-ass Texan must think he is – a chip off the block of his own very wealthy daddy, Trammel Crow. Here’s what was said about his father:

“It takes a tough bird to succeed in the real estate business, and Trammell Crow Company is one of the cocks of the walk.” (from Wiki)

Chief Justice John Roberts has raised questions about Congress’ power to impose rules on the Supreme Court.

The Chief Justice just declared that the Supreme Court is above the law. All three branches of the government are equal, but some are more equal than the others.

from the ProPublica article:

Richard Painter, who served as the chief ethics lawyer for the George W. Bush White House, said Thomas’ explanation of why he didn’t disclose the trips “makes absolutely no sense.” Painter emphasized that the exemption only covers three categories: food, lodging and entertainment. Private jet flights would fall into none of those, he said.

“Justice” Thomas should immediately resign or retire. If he does not, we should demand that he be impeached. We need a standing Investigator General for the Court, and maybe a Special Counsel to be appointed. “Potted Plant” Roberts should be investigated as well, and heck, I’m pretty sure we can find all sorts of criming by Kavanaugh and Alito too.

My guess is that the Justice he’s referring to, if there is any truth to his assertion at all, is that it was Justice Scalia, who conveniently found an easy way out of being questioned about Clarence’s ethically compromised judgement.

Remembering that the most notable thing Chief Justice Rhienquest did before beconing a justice was after he lost his case to keep Bkack people from voting he resorted to phyisical intemedation of Black women to keep them from the polls and lied about it during his conformation hearings to be both associate and then chief, I actually think 4 of the 5 Bush v Gore justices would have no issue with what Thomas has done. Now if Thomas was a liberal that would be another matter.

But to what side in your picture had the 5 would have depended on Republican first but not only O’Conner.

At least that would create a vacancy that could be filled by the next Republican President.

There’s a rule that you can’t appoint a new judge 2 years before an election. Or something.

Yeah where’s the reciprocity in this “friendship”? How many times has Ginny or Clarence went to the airport to pick up Crow? Or taken Crow out to dinner, on them?
All these gifts seem to go in one direction.

Following the law is really really hard. He should talk to a lawyer or something.
