Chris Rufo — Known For ‘DEI’ and ‘CRT’ Panics — Tries to Make ‘the Indian Question’ a Thing

What’s Ramesh Ponnuru’s take on Chris Rufo’s “Indian Question” ?

My GP, cardiologist, gastroenterologist - all are Indian. This town would lose 2/3 of its doctors and probably all its cardiologists, were it not for immigrants and their children.

Several of these kids were interviewed, and they were born here. There is no “somewhere else” or “other country” where they should go.

Bo French is semi-sentient slime mold.

But, but, Indians are taking ignorant, shiftless MAGAts jobs!!! The dumb f*cks with a HS education and no ambition could be cardiologists if it weren’t for Indians. Don’ cha know?

A Miller-esque self hater.

Similar situation where I live. Indians have this tradition of kids following parents into professions so that they’ll have a long string of, say, doctors, lawyers, engineers etc. I recall a personality piece some yrs back about this young Indian woman in NJ Medical school. Some member of her family was a physician going back to the man who built the Taj Mahal. Admirable tradition. My primary physician is a woman of Indian descent who looks like a high school senior.

While it is definitely good to try and get the Manhattan Institute to respond to Rufo’s vileness, I would be a lot more specific about WHO at the Manhattan Institute needs to answer for continuing to let Rufo spout (or at the very least entertain) such garbage. I would start with its President, Reihan Salam, a Bangladeshi-born Muslim immigrant himself. He should be made to answer for Rufo’s smears of the Indian-American community, including of UT football fans for godsakes, and whether this reflects his outlook, his own family’s history, and whether his countenance of such smears of Indians is, in fact, rooted in longtime historic tensions between Bangladesh and India. I’d be very nterested in his response….would be quite illuminating….perhaps he could discuss what it would be like to hear his fellow travelers discuss “the Bangladeshi Question.”

Do you have any information about his net worth? That often explains so much these days.

Ah for the days they felt the need to dig whistle and talk in right-wing code. Now they are shouting “Hey those people are BROWN!”.

Rufo’s pontification reminds me of the “Brain Gremlin” voiced by Tony Randall in “Gremlins 2.”

I am astounded that anyone outside the far right could possibly consider Rufo ‘respectable.’ If Ezra Klein has any shame left, he should be ashamed for giving Rufo access to his platform and having a polite conversation with him.

I will never understand Usha Vance and her silence of her husband’s openly racist comments. Rufo is married to Suphatra “Kip” Paravichai, a Thai American. Either she is also silent, or possibly in on the game.

The USA has been openly racist for some time. As an ex-friend exclaimed in the kitchen of my mixed house, “Why am I the only white guy in the checkout line?” I told him he should have moved to the next line, which would be all white. My non-white wife just ignored him. I don’t understand my wife sometimes either.

But the bozos’ bus had a fridge. And rear-facing seats.

Welcome Sir! You have my attention.

“Dog whistle” is perfect. First heard it used here by Josh Marshall. And I thought I had studied propaganda tricks.

Nativists, behaving much like they have always behaved, go back at least to the 1790s. First it was the Irish and French, then Germans, then Japanese and Italians, then other Asians. My Irish late father in law was born in the USA, but still swallowed a lot of crap.

The mask is now gone. Keeperman says white people want to live only among white people. That’s his bottom line and that’s the same for a lot of people. He’s a man who is afraid and seeks a cocoon in which to live that contains only people who he assumes are like him. That assumption is not based in reality.
