Cheney Takes More Swipes At Trump As GOPers Push For Her Ouster

If confronted with a redhat who still believes this tripe, ask them kindly but firmly,

“What makes you think that a President who never got above 50% approval in four years and killed half a million Americans by doing nothing about a pandemic had even a chance of winning?”

Susy Collins furrows her brow deeply, pivots, and sighs “so that’s what a spine looks like?”.

I am not a Cheney fan, but I believe in 2 things:

(1) Cheney’s opposition to Trump is a good thing
(2) Cheney is not delusional and has reason for doing what she is doing

It was conditional. I freely admit I am very unlikely to encounter these morons where I live.

You can just picture her, at the Spine Store on 43rd, longingly gazing through the front windows.

They don’t believe the polls or the science. You can’t reason your way out of a cult. They have to pull themselves out of it generally with the gentle nudges of people they trust. That’s the real work Romney and Cheney appear to be doing. I know there were 15 or so others who stood up in the impeachment – I haven’t heard much from them.

I think the reason why he came back the last time was because the Mexican authorities did not want him there. I’m sure the Cancun Tourist Board wanted him to leave.

Actually, we have it on good authority that his kids wanted him to leave, also.

They’ve spoken out to defend Cheney and each other (e.g. Kinzinger), but yeah, most of them are completely dead from the neck up at this point.

It’s the “no return” policy that has her flummoxed.

A veritable Sophie’s Choice.

We got Collins because of stupid, clueless campaigning (Cunningham, over in NC, just self-fucked).

Both irritate the hell out of me.

Trump is a phenomenon that Political Science professors will use as an example of Policy-Free, Post-Truth “politics”.

She will run in 2024. She’s positioning herself for that.

Moving on from Trump is an “unwelcome distraction”? That’s like a cat complaining that you’re putting the laser pointer away.

Liz Cheney appears to be provoking a fight within the GQP in an effort to save it from itself. I don’t think it will work but I applaud her efforts.

Purge, Republicans! Purge the never-Trumpers with fire! Run only the most extreme, most slavishly Trumpian candidates you can find. Tear down the impure and expel them from the Trump Party!

The GOP’s trajectory is heading for a crash. The GOP is catering to the Base totally. That is like coaching a football team by leaning on a staff which is 100% selected based on who hates the opposing team the most.

It’s unsustainable and is due to fail

Someone has to be around to pick up the pieces…and those people will include people like Michael Steele, the folks at the Lincoln Project…conservatives like David Frum and Jennifer Rubin…

And hordes of erstwhile-active GOPers who are cowardly hiding in their mansions.

…along with Liz Cheney

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) also signaled that he no longer plans to defend Cheney if another vote to oust her arises.

Kevin McCarthy, America’s stupid cousin™

There will be no independent thought within the Republican Party! No registered Republican is allowed to think for themselves! If any Republican member of Congress dares think for themselves, that person is no longer a Republican! Especially if that person is a woman!
