As some House Republicans suggest that the third-ranking Republican could be ousted from GOP leadership for her vehement refusal to elevate former President Trump, Cheney took her feud with Trump up a notch in a tweet hitting back at the election fraud falsehoods that he continues to espouse.
Liz Cheney is that annoying member of the People’s Temple who keeps telling the other members that the Kool-Aid is poisoned. I mean, she’s correct about that one thing, but it’s definitely not going to make any difference.
House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) and Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), the head of the Republican Study Committee, went on the record to blast Cheney…House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) also signaled that he no longer plans to defend Cheney…"
The party that shrieks about the evils of “Cancel Culture!” sure wants to cancel a lot of culture.
So the mendacious twit who told 30,573 lies as President (according to WaPo) is going to try to tell me what the “Big Lie” was? Um, no. Stand down, big boy.
When asked during the House GOP’s retreat last week whether Cheney was still a good fit for GOP leadership, McCarthy sidestepped the opportunity to endorse the third-ranking Republican.
“That’s a question for the conference,” McCarthy replied.
Kev would need a significant upgrade to qualify as chickenshit. What a pathetic waste of protoplasm.
I have to give Cheney a lot of credit here. She has already more than said her piece, and in doing so, taken on significant risk both politically and personally.
The fact that she continues to meet every lie from Trump with the truth is very impressive when it would be much easier for her to just stay quiet now. I could never support her, but she has my respect.
If the GOP isn’t talking about deradicalization internally, I think the Dems should promise to not run a candidate against Cheney or Romney if they go independent with no expectation that they caucus with Dems. We aren’t winning UT or WY and if we can’t win there, it’s better to have people who actually believe in our system of government than not.
Nothing wrong with admiring someone for doing something honorably even if you disagree. That poison was created by the GOP but we should absolutely be making room for them if their party turns on them, even if they don’t “caucus” with dems. I’ll take a Murkowski over Cruz any day.
