Cheney Officially Out As January 6 Attack Reverberates Through Congress | Talking Points Memo

While I am glad Cheney has come out for facts for Republicans too, I would mention that there has been a recent tradition of Big Lies in the GOP that the Cheneys have been part of:

That dangerous rival was J. Edgar Hoover. LBJ was explaining why he didn’t fire Hoover as FBI director.

Yes. One of our two political parties can now only be described as fascist.

Okay, now would be a really good time to have some indictments dropping on Dumpy’s haid. Needs to happen.

“I think our country needs a strong Republican party. It’s very important.”

I agree. The seeds of American fascism were sown by Dick Cheney.

I wonder what her stance on WMD is. Sort of a big lie from back in the day if I recall correctly.

Indeed. History will not be to these fools.

If Liz was really serious about what she says, she would support HR1 and the John Lewis voting rights act.:

From the article: Asked if she was worried about Donald Trump being reelected, Cheney didn’t answer directly but said she would “do everything I can to ensure that the former President never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office.”

So a follow-up to Liz needs to be, “Does this this mean you will support HR1 and the John Lewis voting rights act or will you continue your support for laws passed by Republican state legislatures to lock in minority rule?”

As Cheney is ousted from her role for telling the truth, committees in Congress will investigate Wednesday what happened on Jan. 6.

These two words are uncomfortable being placed so near to each other in this caption.

The GOP will not stop until their voters punish them (if ever). So what can be done to make that happen?

This should surprise no one. Cheney is a woman in a caucus mostly full of men who dreamily take notes as they watch The Handmaid’s Tale. They didn’t remove her because she told the truth about Trump. They removed her for being a woman while doing it. While I greatly respect how she’s handled this situation, she, like Serena Joy, is as much responsible for what’s happening in Gilead as the men are. She’s lucky she’s still got two pinky fingers.

The voice vote is a nice touch, allowing members to trim their sails to whatever political wind blows next. Look for them to claim that they voted either for or against her ouster, depending on what happens next.

They are beneath the contempt she has for their sire.

May the rift deepen and widen…

The poll found 50% of Republicans said they support the GOP more than they support Trump, while 44% said they support the former commander-in-chief more than the Republican party.

More than 100 Republicans, including some former elected officials, are preparing to release a letter this week threatening to form a third party if the Republican Party does not make certain changes, according to an organizer of the effort.

The statement is expected to take aim at former President Donald J. Trump’s stranglehold on Republicans, which signatories to the document have deemed unconscionable.

“When in our democratic republic, forces of conspiracy, division, and despotism arise, it is the patriotic duty of citizens to act collectively in defense of liberty and justice,” reads the preamble to the full statement, which is expected to be released on Thursday.

I do not wish to seem capricious…but my first reaction to this news was not all bad. Yes, I wished for this Vote to go the other way.

But some people are too thick-headed to see a monster (in the form of Donald Trump) amidst us.

That man never should have been looked at as a politician.

He was always a gangster with just a larger, more intricate, better funded gang.
