Chair Of Jan. 6 Committee Offers Insight Into The Panel’s Subpoena Plans | Talking Points Memo

I wish I believed that. If they. haven’t seen it until now, why do you think they will tune in for the committee, or even for excerpts?

“Cheney is set to deliver the second opening statement after Thompson during the panel’s first hearing on Tuesday.”

So Cheney is Minority Leader on the Select Committee. Well done, Kevin.
(Well done, Madame Speaker.)

Thompson also indicated that the panel will make efforts to enforce the subpoenas in court if need be.

Then he’d better have issued those subpoenas yesterday.

Trump… “may or may not have contributed willingly or unwillingly to the events of Jan. 6,” Thompson told WSJ.

I hope that he also told the WSJ that Chiselin’ Trump may or may not have had a three-way with Matt Gaetz and Gym Jordan.

I second that.

That’ll take me to 7th heaven!

“Anybody who had a conversation with the White House and officials in the White House while the invasion of the Capitol was going on is directly in the investigative sights of the committee,” Thompson told WSJ.

Pelosi: Kevin, you have to say “uncle”. Come on, you can do it. Just one word and I’ll loosen my vice-like grip from your tiny testicles.

We are presuming that the DOJ won’t short-circuit this whole affair by impaneling a Grand Jury at some point. I give the committee a month of testimony before the DOJ signals a mass of indictments warrant a suspension of the hearings.

If McCarthy thinks Nancy is being mean to him, just wait until the DOJ starts to question him.

None of their options regarding the conservative insurrection investigations were good. They deliberately tanked the outside commission and chose the path where they could maximize their “it’s all partisanship” schtick because they have no defense and smoke screens are the only thing they’re good at. There’s nothing more to it. They are a vacant party of immature, ignorant, amoral, criminal and traitorous members and a pouty circus is their best and only card.

It made waves when Fanone and others tried to talk to Republicans and were rebuffed…having their testimony to Congress on the news tomorrow night is going to make a dent in the perception of what happened. There’s a lot of people out there who haven’t really seen the videos like we have, they just don’t pay attention to the news enough, and most of the video from day 1 was just the people out on the steps hanging out and chanting…the worst didn’t come out until later.

We’ll see though, maybe it doesn’t change much, but a small shift in a close electorate will be seismic…and, I think it’s not going to help that Republicans are planning all kinds of stunts tomorrow, the comparison of those to the testimony is going to blow up in their faces.

Which was very stupid, if they hadn’t done that they would have say in the investigation and could have blocked or changed its course. Now, it’s going to be a real, serious investigation, it’s going to be on the news, and their clown show protests against it will look more and more asinine as we see more testimony and documentation.
