Census Bureau Plays Coy On Major Voting Rights ‘Dispute’ | Talking Points Memo

It took the Census Bureau two and half weeks, but the Bureau has finally provided a response to a simple but hugely consequential question posed to Census Director Steve Dillingham at a House hearing last month.

So the asshole answered it with a non-answer. About what you’d expect from a toady working for this maladministration.

These people keep holding out for more bites at the apple on this issue. It never fucking ends.

Saying they will conduct a complete census that ‘enumerates all persons living in the US,” leaves the answer completely open. It’s a non-answer constructed to say nothing. I hope congress goes right back and says give us an answer within 3 days. Period.

Yes, the door is open. If a Trump judge says otherwise, this half-assed answer mean they will exclude non-citizens IF the judge agrees. Sad!

a definitive answer, not more of the doublespeak.

When Rep. Pressley asks again could she also ask how many non-white people constitutes a whole?

It was 3/5ths, but I presume that the market is a bit down these days.

The Constitution mandates that apportionment be based on “whole number of persons in each state.”

They are all about “originalism” and the “plain language of the law” until they want to turn muskets into AR15’s or claim the “whole number of persons” actually means something less than the “whole number of persons.”

OT

You make a good point, but wouldn’t it be 5/3?

Census Bureau Plays “coy” -

What - are we dating now? The fucker refused to legitimately answer the question.

Time for a Committee Chair (Dingle, of Energy and Commerce??) to drag Mr. Administrator Dillingham back before the (sub?) Committee so the gentlelady of Massachusetts can say,

Mr. Dillingham, answer my question.

It’s actually even more explicit than that, because the Constitution specifically enumerates the class of persons who are not to counted (Indians not taxed), and those to be counted at less-than-parity (bond servants, but derived by elimination rather than specification).

Look at the names running the Census and follow the Benjamins.

The Koch brothers funded Heritage Policy Group is controlling the census and rigging the results so the rich Oligarchy class can rig and control the elections. Voting is a threat to Oligarchy rule and voting is always viewed by Friedman and U Chicago’s chaos boys as something to destroy.

I guess this is how authoritarian governments, from Argentina to (ahem) central Europe take root and flourish: get rid of the good guys because there are millions of bad guys waiting in the wings to take over.

Hey, if the southron con(servative)s got to count their slaves (“property”) for apportionment, then there should be no problem in counting non-citizens, who are widely accepted as human beings.

“These people” are the operators of a dying political party, kept in a soulless animated state by the corrupt money of the ultra-wealthy who use the corpse as a puppet to operate the machinery of government. The “apple” they refuse to stop biting at is any mechanism that can dampen the crushing impact of demographics, seemingly at our doorstep, and the known unpopularity of their policy agenda.

They’re not just assholes who won’t stop biting at an apple. They’re all hanging from a precipice, terrified for their lives. They won’t let go of the census, redistricting, dark money, voter suppression, cultivated cyber vulnerabilities, mail fraud, changing the laws at the last minute, or paying a guy to drive the truck of ballots into a river. You might as well ask them to just let go and fall to death.

Animals are at their most dangerous when they’re backed into a corner. That’s where the GOP is right now. They will do anything. Not coincidentally, it’s the exact same story for Trump himself.
