Whst would be better (but won’t happen) would be for trump to:
Listen to scientists and doctors,
Create a national testing set up with experts in charge
Create a national tracing system for those exposed
Isolate the covid-19 positive for 14 days
Of course this should’ve happened in December at the beginning of this pandemic but trump insisted on fucking up. Tens of thousands if lives could have been saved. But lives do not matter to donald.
And as the CARES money dries up, by October, the spending will decrease significantly. Those in the market today, and between now and the middle of September, are reaping all they can while they can.
They will sell and move to cash. Note that Europe is moving into a deep recession,

and without our FED continuing to ‘manage’ the money supply and inflation, we would be heading the same way. We will not escape the recession. It is just how can we cushion the blow. October is always scary.
When Joe is sworn in, much like Obama, Biden will be handed a struggling economy by another failing Republican administration. The markets are not the economy. Usually the markets are a reflection of investors sense of the long term future. Unfortunately, right now that future is short and those investors are grabbing what they can.
W/regard to Fauci under anesthesia at the time the policy change was made, it reminds me so much of the “Hospital Showdown” during the Bush administration where Alberto Gonzales tried to take advantage of AG Ashcroft’s ailing state by rushing to his hospital bedside to do an end run around acting AG Comey, and get him to sign off on the NSA’s surveillance program. I wonder if it inspired this tomfoolery.
There’s the rub. People with 401(k)'s don’t think they’re gamblers, but they’re all sitting in the casino getting their drinks comped.
What the CDC used to do was based on science. Cold hard fact. Under trump a wonderful and very necessary institution has been effectively destroyed because of trump and his mental and personality issues. It’s criminal to play with the health of all Americans just for political and petsonal gain. But that’s what trump is doing. Four more years of trump will mean the death of this country.
Well sure - those are the things a responsible and real leader would have done and we would have a lot more people alive today if we’d have one of those.
I had a visit with my doctor the other week where I hesitantly revealed that we had sent the kids to stay with their grandparents for several weeks.
He responded with a jovial “that’s fine - just get tested before you go”. I kinda lost the plot- “what tests!”. Here in Seattle the public sites run out of testing slots for the week by Tuesday afternoon.
For most of us, you still can’t get a test unless you are really sick, have a relative who is a doctor, or are scheduled for a medical appointment. For the Hoi Polloi, you can take your chances waiting in line for hours to see if you are one of the lucky 100 a day.
How are we supposed to get the virus under control if we can’t get a test to check that we’ve been as careful as we thought we were?
An admission that Monday’s advice was political. Democrats should burn Trump over and over again.
A few days late, and a lot of lives short.
There are a lot of folk who have been touched by the combination of this virus and trump’s incompetency.
They are angry and grieving and all they get is “it is what it is”. That makes them angrier still. Three of my cousins have tested positive. I am angry.
Karma has work to do.
Giroir kind of elided the fact that Fauci wasn’t present when the recommendations were “unanimously approved”. He also stated that Fauci “worked on the new guidelines.” Technically, Fauci could have written “I think these proposed changes are a mistake and we should keep the current guidelines” on a draft and that would count as “working on” the new guidelines.
So supposedly (WSJ) trump is going to announce any day now a contract for 150M Abbot 15-minute tests, with shipments to start in September. Could increase current testing rates substantially, if the tests and equipment to process them materialize, and if they’re not given out as favors. That would help with availability, but to be serious we really need capacity for more like 100 million tests a month.
O I’m sorry about your cousins. And yeah Karma does have a lot to do - she going to be busy.
You are correct, the markets are indeed not the economy. Another failure of the mass media to inform us vs sell us. If you have a business and put all your reserves into equipment and then it sits idle but cash flow is okay it looks like the business is okay. Until a hurricane wrecks one of your factories and you have no reserves for recovery. Then your business is Trumped.
I think we could start by cutting off testing for people visiting the White House – as long as they don’t have any symptoms.
What could go wrong?
Look how much more wealthy the 1% has gotten with the pandemic. Why should they care about controlling it? They wring their hands about the economy when they’re doing better than ever. They don’t care if entire industries collapse. That means opportunity too.
There comes a point when you’re so rich that no matter what happens, you win.
I’m so sorry for this. I hope it turns out OK.
More like a circle-around, like when your Mom suggests you take a walk around the block and get your story straight as to why you were not in the house when she went up to bed at 3 a.m. in the morning.
A lot of money pours into the market from 401Ks. Once your in you cant take it out without loosing much of it, and it doesnt make sense to stop investing. Sooner or later it comes back and all the while you bought on the cheap. Invest, leave it and continue to buy. There really is no other way.
That’s because Redfield has wimplash.
