CDC Declares Racism A ‘Serious Threat’ To Public Health | Talking Points Memo

Yeah … there’s a long list of screaming beat-red-faced raging white supremacists who have been pounding the table and yelling that -
“there is NO systemic racism in America”
They have to be writhing on the floor in outrage right about now!

It would be interesting to have a conversation about the mutations we’re seeing in the virus and the recognition that we are seeing evolution in real time. Too bad we have also tried to limit the teaching of evolution in science classes for so many years.

My concern is that the whole world needs to be vaccinated ASAP because Covid 19 mutations are developing and will be around for the foreseeable future. The annual flu virus attack stems from the Pandemic of 1918 as variants of the H1N1 virus show up.

North Korea and Wisconsin Republicans will do what they can to ensure more deadly and infectious variants of the corona virus will plague Earth for a long long time.

I heard the same story but thought it was one of the A states - Alabama or Arkansas. Said they destroyed 42000 doses because of people not showing up. Couldn’t find it after a cursory search. but it’s out there.

A very good reason for me to bail out of this hole and get back to the farm in CT, tout suite.

I see what’s going on here. Deep state CDCers are trying to cancel racists!

That’s horrible. I wonder if it is due to vaccine hesitancy or insufficient info about the availability. (And how frustrating for people in your community.)
BTW, from what I understand Oklahoma is opening up vaccine availability to nor-residents. It might be worth a road trip for people who can’t get the vaccine at home. Come get a jab, stop and have some fried everything, and head home for a few weeks.

Here’s what I know about CT and the difference in the way they’re handling the vaccination over what’s happening here in Wisconsin:

This story came out in CT in the last 24 hours:

COVID-19 Hot Spots Emerging in CT – NBC Connecticut

So what did the State do?

They opened a walk-in vaccination clinic in downtown Waterbury today - the largest of the towns on the list:

Line Forms Hours Before COVID Vaccine Clinic in Waterbury Opens – NBC Connecticut

There was a line up outside the clinic hours before it opened.

THAT’S a response.

ETA: for the record:

The 5 largest ethnic groups in Waterbury , CT are White (Non-Hispanic) (37.9%), White (Hispanic) (23.2%), Black or African American (Non-Hispanic) (18.8%), Other (Hispanic) (9.67%), and Two+ (Non-Hispanic) (3.28%). NaNk% of the people in Waterbury , CT speak a non-English language, and 92% are U.S. citizens.

Now that’s insight!

This particular “deep state CDCer” used to be one of my specialist physicians, until she was recently promoted. I (may) have mixed feelings about this, especially if I expire in her so-called “temporary absence.”

I lost my family physician to the Forever Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We was a reservist and got called back to work at Walter Reed. This was 15 years ago, and he’s never left the facility since then.

Well, I guess we can be grateful for the good work he’s done at Walter Reed.

He was a great guy, great doctor, and I’m positive a great addition to their staff. And he left his practice in very good hands.

The Repugnicant Party is a serious public health threat.

Their messaging. Their actions (or lack thereof). And their ignorant AF voting base.

Well this is confirmation of what we suspected.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2021/04/09/cdc-covid-political-interference/

And because of this monkeying around the messaging we now have Republican controlled legislatures demanding more control of governors and county executives abilities to declare public health mandates be minimized without either the state’s legislatures having a bigger say or county councils’ add into the mix.

And in MO it’s the exact opposite. Gov. Parsons’ sent it to the counties outside of KC and StL. And the people in those counties are vaccine hesitant. So St. Louisians are driving 2-3 hours one way to get their shot.
They’ve just opened up a FEMA w/ NG site at one of the Community Colleges’ campuses that is not up in north county. It’s not a sign up event, it’s a first come first served event. I’m letting the fervor die down a bit before trying that. Technically my phase isn’t up for getting the shot, and my lifestyle is not at risk for not getting the shot, for now.

This and gun violence have been two no-no’s that the CDC has (in other administrations) been told not to discuss. This headline, by itself, is a sea-change.

I really feel sorry for you, and the situation you are facing in your work at Target. I just don’t understand what the difference can be between your western WI community and my eastern MO county? And though I don’t go out and shop everyday, I do see everyone wearing a mask when I do.
(and yes there are still sometimes when I get to the Home Depot or Target, get out the car, take a few steps and go “Shit!, I need my mask”). I’ve never gone into a store without a mask once the mask mandates became of thing.
