For my money, the Republican Party’s abandonment of its traditional defense of liberty abroad (as flawed and disastrous as it sometimes was in practice) is the biggest tectonic shift in American politics since WWII. Am I overstating it? I can’t think of another comparable seismic movement in the past 80 years.
Democrats have taken the lead over communism as the GOP’s enemy, which is the other corresponsing shift, and I think just as seismic. Keep that in mind if Donald Trump is elected, or when any Republican is elected.

If we stand with NATO, Putin will stand down. If we do not, our NATO allies can easily snuff what’s left of his conventional military. The downside of that is Putin goes to his nukes and there will be a thirty minute WWIII.

Wow…Bob Edwards passed away! So young at 76 too. The article didn’t say what he died from. So very sorry to hear this. I loved listening to him in the mornings on NPR, though I haven’t done so recently. I liked his reporting and appreciated his interviewing skills. He will be missed. RIP, and condolences to his family and friends.
