It’s more likely a spy-swap, or some sort of negotiation about how or why they are helping Iran lately. The more sinister real possibility is that we are preparing to hand Russian dissidents back to Putin. The USA is no longer a safe place to flee or criticize the Putin regime. Nobody is safe here except America-born citizens.

relatively safe. We are (probably) safe from getting arbitrarily uprooted and expelled from the country. Yay for us.
Errr, I’m not sure the word “safe” is the one to use here - just scanning Wikipedia, they report at lease 70 US citizens deported by ICE during The Orange Stain’s first go-round, with hundreds more detained. The estimate by a researcher at Northwestern University is that somewhere around 1% of those detained by ICE are US citizens, so even if you’re not shipped out, there’s an unfortunately non-zero chance that you’re going to be swept up in the shitstorm we’re all facing.
