Calm Down, Everyone: Sanders Camp Says Warren Spoke To Sanders Just To ‘Raise A Concern’

That supposedly contentious moment between 2020 rivals Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT) after Tuesday night’s debate truly wasn’t that big a deal, if Sanders campaign manager Faiz Shakir’s account is anything to go by.

It didn’t look like that to me. It looked like they had words, and that Bernie shut it down and turned away.

All of that seems underlined by Steyer’s reactions as he tried to walk up and shake both of their hands.

Sanders again reiterated he didn’t say that. Warren however, reiterated that he did, and did not look too happy about his denial again.

And if we back up to the original flare up, the canvassing script…after the Sander camp denied that it really was a thing, they came out last night and said “Well, yeah…its a thing that we have released and are running in several early states”

Sanders camp can tell her that everything is lovey dovey between them all they want (and they definitely want to, at least publicly), but she would be a fool to believe it. Sanders campaign is going into gloves off mode with everyone right now.

In other words, Liz had better watch her back.

Didn’t the Sanders Camp also say (read: lie) that Bernie didn’t have a heart attack? Yea, not really gonna take them at face value.

If she believes any alliance they may have formed is still in place, yes.

But this is Presidential politics. I think any candidate in the top tier believing that is naive. Everyone should be in “gloves off” mode now. Its a long, long road of continuous GOTV from here until a nomination is secured.

For what its worth, in my opinion, Sanders probably had similar alliances in place with at least Yang and Williamson…possibly Tabbard. Williamson is out of the race, and Yang is off the debate stage…but Sanders will still expect Yang to hold up his part of the deal and throw his eventual support behind Sanders.

Which, in my mind, is probably what the conversation was really about. Sanders was discussing an alliance that consisted of “I won’t attack you, you don’t attack me, and when I eventually pull ahead, you endorse me”. Warren disagreed that he would eventually pull ahead, but was fine with the “don’t attack me, I won’t attack you” part. The discussion of “when I pull ahead” is where something about a woman’s chances came up. It wasn’t the important part to Sanders, so he doesn’t remember it that way. Warren probably remembers it differently, but now that the “I won’t attack you” part is off the table, she is miffed.

Yup and some of the Bernie Bros have been on twitter lately saying they will vote for Spanky and blow up the election for Dems again if Bernie is not nominated. In the immortal words of Yogi, It is deja vu all over again.

It’s time–past time–for them go have a joint appearance at which they say, “There has been a lot of talk about a brief conversation two years ago. We may remember it a little differently. But we agree on the real issue this year: How to rid the nation of Donald Trump and the curse that he has brought upon us.”

If you believe this I have a nice shiny bridge to sell you.

Facts we know. Bernie’s campaign admitted to smearing Warren by a select segment of his campaign. The original smear, first denied then admitted to, is true.
Warren and Bernie did meet for a long private meeting in Warren’s home and discussed not smearing each other.

I am not a supporter of either one but frankly, they both lose on this one. Bernie’s has resorted to his well known smear tactics and gets by with it from the media since they quickly moved to “both sides”.

Warren, while initially doing well by calling him on it, too quickly relented. Not a good look for the woman saying it is time for a woman president. She needed to be strong but by relenting she gives fodder to the “both sides” media typical sexist reaction.

Bernie stole Warren’s brownie off her lunch tray when she was talking to Amy, when the hell does that get covered?!

A LMAO moment for me was watching Bernie Sanders squirm behind Hillary Clinton’s pantsuit to avoid being labeled a sexist. He had to cite her popular vote win over Trump twice!!! Berners never acknowledge that unconditionally!

That debate went about as poorly for Bernie as one could’ve imagined. Lane is now wide open for Biden to consolidate the center left and position himself for a win in IA.

Bernie citing Hillary’s popular vote win over spanky is laughable since he fails to mention Hillary’s win over Bernie by 4 million votes. In true sexist media fashion that elephant in the room is never noticed.

A point I caught last night was that during the discussion of women can and do win elections, and Warren made the 30 years comment…Bernie just couldn’t resist letting that go by, and had to insert that he won against a republican too.

The wise move was to keep his mouth shut, and not insert himself into a conversation about how women can and do win elections. Because…its not about him.

OT but this is important

I am not sure what this means and I bet ol donnie doesn’t either.

Those Bernie Bros were always going to vote for Trump or not vote at all. I’m pretty convinced a sizable chunk of Bernie’s base is actually Trump’s base.

Not the way to go redemptionsong. You do understand what the redemption song is about, right?

I’m voting for the Democratic nominee. In the meantime, I’m just sitting and watching; sitting and watching. And what’s with the fucking snake emojis? How puerile is that?

That was his worst moment and what it showed me is that he was very defensive and self-aware of the accusations of misogyny surrounding his campaign. Even though he lost the first exchange to Warren, his response by itself wasn’t per se terrible, but when he threw in that 30 years rejoinder and hugged the Clinton pantsuit again, that’s when he revealed he was damaged. He’s going to struggle to attract the additional voters (undecided, loosely committed, 2nd choice) to win in IA.

Bernie also had problems in the Southern states and with Black women where Hillary outran him.

You gotta ask yourself, cui bono in all of this? And the answer has to be, Republicans. It’s why I tend to avoid political debates altogether: they’re nothing but fake drama and contrived issues.

The other issue that arises from this: let’s just hypothetically suppose Warren ends up being the last candidate standing (note: I’m not a rabid champion of any of the candidates in particular; I just want someone who will beat Trump). Do you think Bernie Sanders’ supporters will rally around her, or do you think they will act like soreheads?
