CA Will Remove Columbus Statue | Talking Points Memo

137 years, huh? I was going to ask if there was also a monument in honor of Junípero Serra.

Will the California RWNJs want to preserve that too? After all, the Spainards are the reason why Mexicans seak–eek!!-- Spanish.

And that is why poor Stephen Miller had to suffer oppression by attending school in a city named Santa Monica instead of the proper anglo name of Saint Monica or Heyliker (הייליקער)Monica. Hey!! Wait a minute!! Can Jews be white supremacists?

Poor confused Stephen Miller. (Therefore never send to know for whom the mariachi band tolls, the gas chambers are for you . . .too.)

I don’t think the ANZACs are enamored of Churchill. The whole Gallipoli fiasco . . .

Openly admit the sins yes, but if “not glorify” means no monuments and the standard is 21st century cultural morality, the pretty much everything has to go. Just about every president including Lincoln, Kennedy, and the Roosevelts.

If that’s where we are it’s a dangerous place.

I don’t think that’s where we are. If and when we start going down that rabbit hole, then another discussion will be called for. Meantime, nobody’s going to miss a few statues of confederate generals and Christopher Columbus. Or Aunt Jemima or Uncle Ben on their syrup bottles and rice boxes. And let us say those people who will miss these images would find another grievance if they didn’t have this one.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) also defended New York City’s statue paying tribute to Columbus by arguing that the statue honoring him near Central Park “represents” the legacy and contributions of Italian Americans in the country.

What a piece of work he is.

Never mind the wanton murders and enslavement of First Nations people. Columbus never set foot here.

If he wants to symbolize contributions of Italian-Americans, maybe a statue of an Italian-American? May I suggest John Basilone? Hell, Joe Dimaggio or Frank Zamboni would be an infinite improvement over the prototype of the Antichrist.

US Grant who as much as Lincoln, saved the Union, inherited a slave, gave him his freedom, but Grant was a slave owner until he freed him.

Geo Washington, Thomas Jefferson were slave owners.

This is taking on aspects of the Chinese cultural revolution.

Read the newest, extensive, bio of Churchill. You’ll see why he’s called the greatest stateman of the 20thC. The author covers Churchill’s views on race. Read that. Then tell me he’s unworthy of our respect and gratitude.
