On what grounds does she deserve a “break”?

On the basis that she was only charged and convicted of misdemeanor trespassing, for a start. There was no evidence she engaged in any kind of violence or property damage, she wasn’t armed, she didn’t enter any sensitive portions of the building, she accepted responsibility for her actions, and she genuinely apologized for her conduct. Oh, and she had no previous criminal convictions.

The QAnon tourists who just milled around the Capitol posting video to Parler will end up with probation or 30-90 days.

Anyone proven to be armed with a weapon, including flagpoles in many instances, will do time measured in years. So will anyone who breached the House and Senate floors, or congressional offices, as will the bastards who broke doors and windows to get into the building. Anyone proven to have assaulted cops will do time measured in even more years. The most vicious of those bastards will do in excess of a decade.

The conspirators who planned the insurrection will do 10-20 years. Roger Stone will die in prison, and Donald Trump will die pending his sentencing.

Some of these people already have felonies on their records, and their sentences will tend toward the longer end of the sentencing ranges. Proud Boys and Oathkeepers are similarly fucked.
