Bloomberg: Rep. Collins Switching Plea To Guilty In Criminal Case

No, he pled guilty because a trial would likely stretch beyond his term, and he ain’t gettin’ re-elected. He can trade his resignation for a reduced sentence, but only while he still has something to resign from.

Also, trump doesn’t pardon anyone who can’t do something for him.

Not really. He’d be cursed out and told to get out of germaphobe’s office.

Not necessarily, don’t forget they have his son as well, so could be doing the Flynn option, he takes the heat for leniency for the family.

Please don’t do me any favors.

I have seen no reports of a NY state indictment, and double-jeopardy would prevent it.

Flynn had a no jail plea deal until he blew it up. And bagging a congresscritter makes a proscutor’s career.

Agree, that’s why I’m only questioning your thought that he walks. Both him and his son are scheduled to change their pleas tomorrow, I’m more banking that his son walks, and he does the time, that that becomes the deal (how much time is debatable, but I imagine they want him in jail for at least a token sentence).

Sorry - not with Collins, and you’re right. I meant with Trump.

At least as long as Martha Stewart got…

I think I’ve posted both “trade for reduced sentence” and “no jail time”. I should have said just “reduced” (no jail time is a reduced sentence). A bit difficult to give him zero in NY after Martha Stewart.

The swamp of political corruption and grift by Trump, his family, his staff, and his inner circle of GOP supporters continues to make the Okefenokee seem like a wading pool in comparison.

Now we just have to get of two others named “Collins”: Doug, that smarmy little asshole Rep. from GA, and that Senator from Maine - you know, Creep Suzette.

He wasn’t exactly letting Manafort rot. He’s had America’s Ghoul beating the bushes in Ukraine to build a case to pardon him.

“He temporarily suspended his reelection campaign”

…which raises the question as to how his resignation campaign is doing…

He doesn’t need to. It’s an absolute power, he can wing it any way he wants.

And an older guy hanging around prison for well over a year ain’t exactly a walk in the park.

Now the headline is that he’s resigning…
