Originally published at: Bloody Texas Primary Will Stretch into Runoff as John Cornyn Fights for His Political Life
Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) has three more months to extend his Senate career beyond the two decades he’s already served, fighting to represent his longtime constituents who may have already left him behind. Cornyn and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) will battle on to a late May runoff, as neither topped 50 percent in…
Here’s hoping that both sides spend as much money as possible, doing as much damage to each other as possible, every day between now and May 26th.
Not only are these two both incredibly unlikeable, petty men, but each one has an assemblage of miscreant hangers-on whose careers depend on winning. It’s going to get ugly down there in Texas.
Having these two tear each other apart for the next several months is the best March present I could have ever asked for.
For a group of people who fancy themselves “tough on crime,” Republicans sure do vote in favor of a lot of criminals. John Cornyn is a horse’s ass, but Ken Paxton is a criminal. The only place Paxton belongs is in prison.
ETA: I know that Republicans’ “tough on crime” stance is just code for racism projected at certain people in urban areas. They have absolutely no problem with white, white collar criminals.
Paxton seems to be more Trumpy than Trump. Can DonOLD really afford to have younger Texas Trump in Congress? I mean how many show-boaters can Trump live with?
This contest reminds of of the flick Alien v Predator, where both sides are terrible.
It will be a tough fight between a Worthless POS and a Complete POS. May the bigger POS win.
And Democrats will cross their fingers that Paxton unseats the incumbent, that his dirty laundry and hard-right legacy make him toxic enough in a general election to put Texas on the table for the first time in over 30 years.
Yeah, because that theory of electoral politics has worked out fucking great for Democrats these last 27 years, hasn’t it?
I think Talarico would have a much better chance of beating Cornyn than Paxton. I mean, how many times have Democrats and/or liberal media hoped that Texas Republicans are capable of being repulsed rather than enthused and activated by corruption, sadism and depravity–or anything other than democracy, equality and due process, really–only to get stomped by their idiot boots?
Which isn’t to say I’m actually rooting for Cornyn. He’s a loathsome piece of shit, McConnell’s hatchet man in the dismantling of democracy. Reap the bitter fucking whirlwind, motherfucker, you and every other Texas shitheel being purged for insufficient loyalty to the Leader.
Texas MAGA GOP will push Paxton over the top. Much of Hunt’s vote was anti-Cornyn.
