“Go back and look at it” or “If you look at it” were the first tells I picked up on.
He’s telling you that you’re mistaken and, well, basically that you caught him & he doesn’t want to discuss it any longer.

Traveling in the south for the first time in my life. And, for the first time in my life, i am continually referred to and hearing others referred to as sir. This is a common refrain, especially from those serving others, white or black.
I think the code implies to his base that he’s not working with experts or elites when it comes to the truth, but good ol’ boys and others from time gone past who use this term, those at the bottom who know the real truth.
You describe the narcissism of an oral aggressive personality.
It’s not that complicated. If his lips are moving he’s lying.
The very fact that multiple organizations are tracking and analyzing his lies should be enough to alarm everyone.
Any statement that begins with the phrase “…the democrats…”
Also: “I know it, and you know it too…”
Exactly. I think a more accurate statement than “here is one tell” is “he has not intentionally told the truth since he started his campaign” (at the least). So, as better persons than I have said: everything is a “tell” with him.
Sorry, OT, but I’ve seen stories about states spending money to conduct a census count. Is that something that has been done before, or is it a direct response to the current administration’s efforts to screw up the count? Is the commerce dept obligated to take the state information? California apparently plans to spend $154 mil to get an accurate count there - can the commerce dept just say, “Thanks, but we won’t be using that?” (or more likely, “Fuck you, libtards.”)
For me it is when his lips move.
Yes, kudos in order.
On the other hand …
Trump’s Most Frequent Dishonesty Tell …
… is that he’s speaking.
while not yet perfect - there are real-time language translators that are quite good … autonomous automobiles are advancing rapidly … facial recognition is scary fast at analyzing massive amount of detail & recognizing patterns
So couldn’t somebody quickly whip up a “Trump-o-lie-sir” real-time veracity detector … just imagine how much that would get under his skin! …maybe set it up with a bio-feedback function - complete with electrodes attached to his b… … … biceps … admonishing him with 2,000 volts when he engages in fabrication.
Both, actually, although I (increasingly literally) cannot wait for the female version.
Plus some people do address presidents by their first names, obviously.
Is it possible to turn Dale’s insight into a short ad? If Steyer and Schultz are hellbent on spending millions in this race would they consider this? Run it on multiple stations/shows so that Trump’s supporters see it. Start to peel away the persuadables by giving them tools to recognize Trump’s lies. You could do a whole series including the other tells mentioned by earlier commentators. Success would be moving a couple of % into the blue column or tamping down their enthusiasm so they don’t vote at all.
Trump is the most insecure old white male in history. He has to make up things because he gets no respect in any other way. If he is holding court before the media making statements, he’s lying about something trying to impress them and us.
donnie’s whole image is a guise …
The entire persona is based on lies —
You can’t pick an apple from an orange tree —
He is such a poor liar, but what I’ve noticed is more physical; he will purse his lips - almost puckering - and inhales through his nose. Then he shifts his neck forward without changing the angle of his head, and when he speaks his voice is very soft and quiet (for him). The purse, pucker, inhale continues through the episode. He also has a tendency to look around a lot, and if he’s standing, instead of his regular orchestra conductor motions, he sort of does the same motions but he leaves his upper arms against his sides so only his lower arms move around. All this aside, he lies all the fucking time, but these traits seem to prevail when he he is actively trying to obfuscate.
Pretty much agree with those identifying the key tell as any time the Manchurian Cantaloupe opens his mouth but I’ve gotta say, as bullshit artists go, he’s has gotten pretty sloppy: These days, the crap coming out of his mouth is so off the wall that I think most people are just stunned, or maybe even grudgingly admiring as in, “I can’t believe I just heard a grown man say that much less the POTUS.”
ETA: agree with @gusfabriani below too; it’s a kind of supreme insolence, an alpha dominance display, as in “I’m pissing on you but making sure you know it so you know you can’t stop me.”
To Drumpf, there’s no sport in lying unless he knows we know he’s lying, but he does it anyway. He knows we know and he doesn’t care. What he’s really thinking is that he’s king and we’re peasants and what the f_ck are we going to do about it? Same with everyone associated with his criminal, unethical, incompetent administration; KAC is perhaps the most putrid of them all…she lies with such evil glee, and it wouldn’t be nearly as fun for her if she didn’t know we know she’s lying to our faces.
Trump has an easier ‘tell’ than that. When his mouth is open, he’s lying.
