I have heard the point made lately that the Govm’nt should have come down on Cliven Bundy like a ton of bricks back in 2014. I agree, but I’m not sure how much difference it would have made. Deterrence only works when the target is not stuck on stupid. Still, the Govment would have sent a powerful message by asserting its monopoly on violence. Even the wackos understand that. Small arms are no match for Apache helicopters.

This all sounds great, as long as the Biden Administration also takes a hard look at the groups who have Portland and Seattle under siege. Far left groups are as much of a threat to the Republic as far right groups. All violent extremest groups, be they left or right, should be engaged with overwhelming force, and driven into the ground.
