Biden Walks Back Diversity Claim Comparing Black And Latino Communities

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden on Thursday night walked back comments he made to a group of Black and Latino journalists earlier in the day suggesting that “unlike the African American community” the Latino community is “incredibly diverse.”

There have been several racist presidents, but the last notable racist in the white house before Trump was Woodrow Wilson.

The idea that the black community is a monolith is something promoted by some leaders of the black community and the press. I don’t think it is true, but it that is what some in the black community like to imply. It gives them a perception of having more power than they actually have.

After yesterday’s statement, Sleepy Joe Biden is no longer worthy of the Black Vote!

Even proven wrong by DNA, Trump will not apologize…

Any American who votes for this scumbag has a lot of screws missing!

So allow Biden to explain the context because Biden is definitely NOT a racist!

He promptly recognized his error and immediately apologized. A classy move. He may not always get his words right, but at least he listens - unlike the joke we have in office now.
Joe still has my vote. #Biden2020

So far more press on this than Russian Bountygate. Glad we finally got to the bottom of that.

In this case…I really do think it’s the press trying to gin up something that was NOT at all meant by Biden. He has said more cringey things in the past.

Once he has chosen a strong Black woman for VP…this should all be water under the bridge.

Correct.

That’s an adjective and a verb.

Why anyone would spend a moment listening to Donnie ragging on Biden for a gaffe beats the hell out of me.
The response to Drumpf’s is clearly: “You hypocrite! First take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” (one version of Matthew 7:5) [ed.]

I’m a POC Joe knows someone like me (BHO ) And the definition of diversity. I accept Bidens Explanation. He’s right about Latinx views on immigration.

The media hasn’t dealt with the actual question that led to the gaffe.

Check out Rev.com to read the transcripts it’s a great interview, it’s very informative which unfortunately will be overshadowed

Who are the “leaders” in black community promoting this? Names, please.

How so, who derives perception of more power by being monolithic?

Being monolithic has always been false & not indicative of power.

Perhaps you are thinking of solidarity vs. monolithic?

Biden manages to show his tin ear more than Dems are comfortable with. And seemingly when he does it he says things a sentient person would recognize as trouble while the thoughts were forming in their head and the words were welling up from their voice box.

I took Biden to mean voting patterns when referring to Hispanics not being monolithic vs black Americans. For the most part AA’s are 90% Democrats. Hispanics not so, they may be GOP just as much as being Democrats. Anyone following FL politics has observed that. Cuban population in FL is heavily GOP. Whereas, Mexican population in TX & CA are heavily Democrats.

This is big hullaboo about nothing.

Black folks are not getting their knickers in knot over this…even if Biden omitted the word “voting” regarding monolith.

No one cares. Not worth a headline.

Don’t let Republicans or the purity police bait you, Joe. It only gives them oxygen. We know what you meant.

Yep, even the TPM article left out “with notable exceptions” in the lead paragraph.

This won’t hurt him in the long run, because there’s nothing Trump can do to shake Biden’s support with POC. It’s just today’s blip in the news cycle.

How about this, Joe? “African-American” is a term based on geographic origin in Africa; “Latino” is based on a language, so unites people from more than one continent. “Diversity” is a loaded and easy-to-misuse word. He’s just not a good word-juggler, VP Biden.

Yup, he isn’t wrong but said it in a dumb way. Meanwhile drump is wrong 90 percent of the time and says everything in a dumb way.
