Biden Takes Victory Lap After SC Win | Talking Points Memo

Time for Klobuchar to call it quits and maybe Warren (she won’t). Neither have as many delegates as Pete.

Back when Bush was President, Pelosi and Biden worked with him on his Aids initiative in Africa. It saved millions of lives. In cases like this when there is a clear humanitarian need for Americans to work together it is not a bad thing for the parties to cooperate. We are a wealthy and powerful nation we have an obligation to help people when we can.

I have this feeling though that Amy Klobuchar may well prove to be one of the world’s stubbornest people. I don’t know why and I could be wrong, but she impresses me that way. hahahaha

Oh yes, Amy is stubborn…that is obvious. I do not think I would want to piss her off either.

I definitely don’t want to piss her off. She’s a lot bigger than me and she’s as mean as it gets.

more than that. Buttigieg is now out. Good for him, he just earned a lot of gratitude and a cabinet spot.

Down to a two man race if Bloomberg does not romp on super tuesday.

Pete out. Those votes go to Joe.

”Biden added that he has to win in North Carolina, Georgia, Texas and Florida and that he thinks he will “do very well in those states”

I find this concerning. When is last time a Democrat won these states in the General election.

B.S. is winning in CA, which is typically blue during General.

Biden was booed in last debate by Hispanic voters. I’ve since learned they are hot about the 6M deportees under OBama. Is Biden doing anything to court the Hispanic vote.

Right now it seems the B&B vote is split with blacks choosing Biden & browns supporting Bernie. Not a good thing as B.S. can be nominee.

Whoopee! ButtigIeg just shut down his campaign.

Hope Bernie doesn’t get an even bigger share of CA & TX delegates.
Biden needs to shore up the brown vote.

Biden’s folks expressly asked her to stay in the race. They want her to get delegates in MN. They don’t see her as an issue, would probably like her to stay on the podium as support for the next debate, and as a women.

We’ll see; one thing funnily consistent is how many people had Warren as their second choice, so some of them might go to her. Things are just so wild right now

As for the article, Biden’s allowed a confidence booster. But don’t get arrogant. That’s the kind of stuff that allowed the others to get blindsided and sit in stunned silence after taking a loss.

You are not wrong. She is. Also she is mean. Her staff gets the brunt of it.

Only through Super Tuesday.

A flood of them, and a lot that matter as they are congresspeople in districts up on Tuesday. Biden - and the rest of the moderate to liberal side of the party - want to prevent vote splitting. This is why Buttigieg is out today.

Buttigieg’s vote goes to Biden and suddenly some states that would have had a plurality for Sanders (TX, perhaps even CA) now go to Biden. And Warren is sticking it out because, well, it is Warren. But there her vote would got probably 60% Bernie, 40% Biden.

Bloomberg will also drop out, but only after super tuesday. He was in because he thought Biden was toast, did not believe anyone else could challenge Bernie (and it appears he was right) so his reason to be in is now gone.

Hopefully he will take on st. Bernard of the Trotskyites hard over the next few days so that Biden does not have to get his hands too bloody.

Yes I’ve heard. It made me dislike her as a person very much. I don’t like people who abuse people who are not in a position to fight back - it’s bullying.

Yes, and I expect she will get out then. She has always been the “electable” stand in for Biden. If Biden does well on Super Tuesday her reason to stay in is gone. She has always been a life vest for the party, if Biden flamed out, as Buttigieg was (correctly) recognized as not doing well with groups he needs due to being 38 and gay…

Well he didn’t last time, and I expect like last time his surrogates will be running around bashing the DNC and the Dem nominee all the way to the election like last time, if he isn’t the nominee.

Biden has no illusions about the current GOP. He saw it enough with Obama. He is doing this to court the swing voters with that schpiel.

Every word. Last night Chait* noted that uniting behind Biden is the only way to stop Sanders. Perhaps Liz being in helps, I don’t know.

*awful on public education; don’t get me started. His dishonesty is telling, but on other matters he is often ahead of the curve.

I see less of that this time, but Sanders has the health issue (and won’t release medical records) and he isn’t getting any younger. Yes, Biden is old as well, but I think people are desperate for responsible, competent, experience after Trump. Biden can provide that.

His choice for running mate is a huge decision. It will need to bring undecideds and grumblers onboard.

And this is the american way. Especially for a challenger. Obama pitched for republican votes in 2008. Clinton did in 1992 and 1996. Gore did in 2000. Trying to run for your base votes only (see McGovern 1972, Mondale 1984, Kerry 2004, does not work very well.
