Amen.
And Trump is not as dumb as he appears to us. Is he deranged? A stone cold liar and a demagogue? Yeah!

I respectfully disagree. There’s not a shred of polling evidence that supports your conclusion about Biden. Your instincts may turn out to be right, but that’s another matter. My instincts tell me that of the all the Democratic aspirants out there now, only Biden can - rather amazingly - appeal at the same time in a general election to white working class voters, Republican suburban voters and African American voters in the key swing states that Democrats must win to get the White House.
I’ve seen the left wing of the Democratic Party put a Republican in the White House before, but I think it elevates ideology over experience to urge that same course on the Democratic party this time.
Your reasoning makes sense but I worry about turnout more than anything else. Millennials are today the Democrat’s largest voting block. My two Millennials will vote (Democratic Party) for sure but not so sure about the rest of that generation. And if Trump is not the nominee I thing it’s even more problematic for the Democrats.
I’ve seen the left wing of the Democratic Party put a Republican in the White House before,
News to me.
C’mon, Joe, you know Trump is only interested in corruption so long as it lines his own pockets. His own, he prefers to ignore.
I put out 21 years of mine so show us your tax returns.
Trump can’t. They’re hiding his fraud.
I know you are right and I read your posts all of the time. Tell me honestly - did you think Trump was going to win in 2016? We seemed to have a lot of data then also.
Though not explicitly stated, I sensed that they have been voting Republican for decades. For what that is worth.
That’s it. Slime the Democrats because they don’t use the right words as opposed to Big Media and a Corrupt Party who you think know how to do that. This shouldn’t be a war of words and whose are snappier and more memorable. The next presidential election and the nominee must concentrate on ideas that don’t need to be focus group approved. and on future plans Americans with brains can understand.
I read reporting about trumPP’s hardcore supporters in rural areas, I’ve described some of their attitudes and faithfulness in posts, and it’s considered heresy. Why should we care what trumpp rubes think is about the tone of responses here.
They must not be ignored though at the same time I don’t believe they have the numbers to reelect. Much of his 2016 support has dried up, the Obama voters, the but her emails voters, and that 30-40% you cite seems to be what they represent. We flipped 40 R House seats in 2018 and lots of other down ballot races in the months before that. We can do that again.
FIFY
Yeah, um, Chelsea Clinton might have a few thoughts on the existence of that “standard.”
Yeah, I have to admit I do love Biden’s approach here.
I still think Liz Warren does it even better though.
Trump is hated by such a large part of the population. He benefited from a perfect storm in 2016 (Comey, emails, Russia).
Look at the World Series last night- Boos and chants of lock him up.
He was not in his safe place last night…
As if our lives depended on it.
I loved those boos and chants, but I don’t think he would have gotten them if the game had been played in Houston, not DC. So I’d be careful to not over-read the meaning of the (richly deserved) catcalls last night.
I get that but Trump would get booed in most MLB ballparks. I was going over with my son this morning where he wouldn’t get booed. Arlington TX (TX Rangers) but name others for me? Houston is tricky because it’s a Bush town and they hate Trump plus the city is Democratic.
Yep, I think you’re right. Most politicians get booed when they are announced at a major league game, but the anger was palpable in DC last night. I agree, though, that Houston would have been pretty much a close call.
My view throughout 2016 was that HRC was going to win and the only way she would lose is if the 3rd party vote got too high. We were in good shape until the Comey letter. After that, it rattled the political winds and it became a jump ball situation. Still, HRC was favored based on the early vote and the consensus average polling in WI, MI, PA, but the issue was that all that polling had the 3rd party vote at 3%-4%. It got up to 6% and that was the final piece to the perfect storm that the Trump campaign, the Russians, the Trumpers in the FBI, the Media and Cambridge Analytica needed to get over the hump.
I didn’t know what had happened the night of the election or for the next several days after, I just knew that something had gone terribly wrong. It gave me a sick feeling in my stomach because I knew we’d been had. I couldn’t believe Americans were that stupid after we’d been through 8 years of Obama and so much had improved. I still can’t believe Trump is president or that anybody would consider voting for that ass a second time.
I always get the impression from Joe that he has no clue who Donald Trump is, that he has no clue whom he is dealing with. Real cluelessness of a pose? Maybe a self-reinforcing combo.
